I just got my admission decisions from WPI and learned that I am deferred from EA to RA.
I am a gap year applicant and had also applied previous year. Back then i had 1370 in SAT as opposed to 1520 now, 65% in latest high school test as compared to 88% now. Also I took three APs with scores 4,4,5. Then i was deferred to RA and then to waitlist and finally wasn’t accepted. Is there something i can do now to prevent that from happening again??
R U a international student? if so, that is pretty normal. I have received the defer as well. In my China RPI 2022 chatting group, most of us get deferred.
But don’t worry, other schools will give u the offer
It would not hurt your case to put in writing your concern about the possibility of being wait listed for a second time and pointing out your improved record, perseverance and reasons why. WPI took no one off the waiting list last year. :bz
i got deferred as well my friends who were accepted all “demonstrated interest;” that is, they visited the school and such.
my sister got deferred from a school, but she sent a passionate letter explaining how interested she was in the school and they accepted her! maybe try that if you’re that bummed. (ps: she didnt even end up going to that school)
My son is a dual-national and was accepted EA. However, we visited the campus 4 times, he had 2 interviews and was in contact with a professor. In his acceptance letter, he was complemented for his enthusiasm about the school, and I believe that was a key element for his acceptance.
As WPI is test optional, my son presented no scores, although he is doing IB. For foreign students, we were told that the TOEFL score was more important then the ACT English. Did you take the TOEFL?
