Yah, my school gives 7 points for AP classes as well as honor classes. Since 7 points is already embedded to my grades on transcript, UGA just calculates my GPA according to the transcript. they don’t strip off the 7 points. They only add .5 to AP classes if your school did not add any “honor” points. So if you had 87 in AP class and your school doesn’t give you that extra “honor points” like my school does, then UGA will calculate it 3.5 towards GPA calculation. However for my school, an 87 would appear as 94 on the transcript for AP class. In that case, UGA does not add .5, it just takes it as 4.0 when calculating for GPA.

So? then the GPA that you calculated would just be UW. I just wanted to make sure you were clear on the complete differenc between UW and W.

Oh I think you and I define UW and W differently. I define UW as stripping off the honor points from your school, and just your raw grades. I see Weighted as: grades with the honors points from your school.

does it really matter? they only look at one of them anyways

When your posting on this board it does if you want an accurate chance.

i had a 4.0 weighted gpa and a 28 on the act and got deferred but i also got expelled so it’s not too much of a surprise

Well I was wondering the same thing. I had a 1160/1630 and I was defered from early admissions. I have about a 3.7 GPA and have taken 3 AP classes (my school doesnt offer many) and a honor grad
I have excellent ECs.
I was wondering my chance at admissions it is my favortie school and is my number one pick.

I wish my school gave me 7 “honor” points. We get none.

Schools consider how honors and APs are weighted within the school, though. That’s one reason UGA asks for a counselor evaluation.

I was deferred 2 years ago, admitted regular. I’m quite surprised you got defered, you have better credidentials than I did.

My GPA was a 3.45, weighted.

A 1210 SAT, but really, I know people who got in with less than that.

You took more APs than me. 9? Mother of God.

So, based on that alone, they should take you a second time around. Now, what you need to do is pick yourself back up, write the best ****ing essays you’ve ever written for the RD app, and keep your head up high. Enjoy your holiday break, see you next fall (:
