Well I was deferred too! I had about the same GPA about a 3.75 and 3 APs. 1160/1630 SATand 23 ACT…
Bunch of extra circulars i thought this would help but in EA UGA only looks at grades and SAT.
Reg decision is when they look into ECs which in our case will help!

The average SAT of admitted students at UGA is 1263. The 25th percentile is 1130. The average GPA is 3.83. During EA as lrhodes notes, ECs aren’t considered, which makes it unaccessible for applicants who are considerably below the median. But to be completely honest, it’s very unlikely that 1020 with a weighted 3.7 is going to work out.

I was deferred aswell: 4.0 gpa, 3AP’s BUT a 1500 SAT with a 980 (M+CR) i know i need to pull up my SAT but im on here to tell you that several students from my school were accepted with a SAT of CR+M of 1180!!! but they had a 4.0 GPA… so that should be your goal because i sure am trying to do the same! GOOD LUCK!
p.s. im a female asian aswell i dnt think that matters much ;)

I think it’s the M+CR that is hurting you guys.

What was your high school curriculum like? Is is possible that your schools practice grade inflation?

The average SAT of admitted students at UGA is 1263.

Weird…what’s that 3 coming from? oh well…anyway…there’s a big difference between a 1263 M+Cr and a 1000 range M+CR.

I wonder how much ECs will weigh in during RD. Can they really compensate that much at a public U?

I wonder if rigor of curriculum would count much more than ECs.

BG…have you taken any AP exams? What were your scores?

I have taken two AP exams but I got 2s on both of them, but im taking 4 in the spring, but for AP studio art that just means sending in my portfolio, so its really more like 3.

I am retaking the SAT in january and I plan on studying really hard over my christmas break, and I am going to start getting tutored for it, since it has been over a year since I have had a math class.

and yes I believe the rigor of curriculum is looked at more than the EC, but I have a good amount of AP classes and extra academic credits.

I have a 3.8 GPA, and totally aced my 1st semester of classes (lowest grade in AP Econ - 97)
SAT - 1540
R - 450
M - 640
R - 460 - im asian so my reading and grammar skills suck lol

ACT - 25
M - 27
R - 24, but just took it again and got a 26 on R will they take the higher?

ive taken 5 aps - 4s on ap us and ap calc, bc calc and ap econ have not tested yet

i live in GA, im in a couple of clubs including national honor society and have at least 20 hours of community service, but that’s it

could anyone tell me what my chances are? please and thank you
and what should i do to better my chances in getting in?

I found out friday that i got in! all that changed was my sat score i raised it to an 1100 which is still low so im still really shocked that i got in.

They just posted decisions on Friday. I suggest you check the website which has been up and down because a lot of applicants have tried to log in and stuff. Usually, from what I hear when you are deferred from the college unless you have shown big improvement in your SATs or ACT, they leave for last, for example they want to make sure all the other strong applicants are in before they consider strong deferred applicants. I was accepted in UGA on Friday and I am not a star student, so good luck to you guys I hope all of you get in!
