I was recently deferred from Loyola Marymount’s School of Film and Television. This is my first admissions announcement that is not an acceptance, and I don’t know where to go from here.
My counselor told me it would be a smart idea to contact the admissions office via e-mail, what e-mail would that be? What’s typically included in this type of e-mail?
@NickFraser98 - I suggest you ask your counselor what he/she means by that. The reason for that is that sending an email is a bit of an unconventional response, in my opinion. My D was deferred at a different school (not LMU) and the instructions were specifically to send midterm grades. Other changes or accomplishments in the educational record can also be sent. They indicated NOT to sent superfluous messages. Did the deferral letter give any instructions?
Apart from sending transcripts and maybe contacting LMU I would also advise not to worry about it since LMU defers most of the Film applicants just to see what the regular pool offers since it is such a competitive major. I was accepted and was told by an admissions officer than less than 10 people were accepted in the early round, so there is for sure a chance to get in! Don’t stress and good luck!
If you got differed NOT be discouraged I was originally differed from the School of Film and Television and I just found out last week that my application status was changed to accepted!!!
My son has applied to LMU…in January they asked for mid term transcripts. Haven’t heard anything since…he checks his application portal and it just says submitted in Sept. No idea when decision day is! Anyone have any insight?
