I’m confused as to when I will hear back - I’ve hear late February, I’ve heard March, but I think the most common thing I’ve read is April. Can anyone let me know?? Also, I’m really nervous as to if I’ll get in or not. I have a low GPA but high ACT
Stats:
GPA: 3.5 weighted (1 AP, 3 Honors)
ACT: 32 composite
Lots of clubs/activities
2 jobs throughout high school - started working sophomore year
Spent the summer in Ghana
Participated in an exchange program - lived in Denmark, hosted a Danish student
The February wave of admissions is for deferred EA who have increased their statistics to EA level, or RD applicants who were EA competitive. The final decision date is usually the last Friday in March.
Your ACT is impressive, but your rigor and GPA are fairly low, both of which, are more important than test scores.
How were your essays and teacher rec letters? These may be a deciding factor.
My junior year honors english teacher wrote my rec letter - maintained an A in her class even through the exchange program and some personal stuff I went through that year. I feel really good about my letter from her.
I’m very confident in all of my essays except for one I feel was just alright
I’m guessing you’re a humanities major? Also, what AP class was it? Some APs are typically seen as more rigorous than others.
After being deferred, did you send in improved transcripts or test scores? An upward trend is always to your benefit.
What is your UGA unweighted GPA? This is the GPA they will use, so your weighted GPA is not a good predictor.
Also, AP Lit is seen as more of a lighter AP class, so it may not get you the rigor you were looking for. How many AP classes does your school offer? If your school offers 3, then 1 AP class looks fine, but if they offer 20, only taking one is not the best.
