hey guys..i got deferred..i noticed alot of people on here and at my school did NOT get deferred..they either got rejected or accepted..soo.....is it a good thing or bad thing to get deferred?? (obviously it's better than gettin rejected..but i mean..you guys know what i mean..) also..why did they extend the reg admission to FEBRUARY 2ND?? what in the heck is that all about?? anyone care to take a guess or have a theory as to why that is..?? cause i've never ever EVER seen that happen..not enough applicants..maybe?? who know...write back..i can't get to sleep..waah!!

Hi SweetCheeks711.. The acceptance letter says they had more than 18,000 applications...so I doubt they didn't get enough. I noticed a lot of schools extended their RD application deadline. Not sure why. And I personally don't think deferral is a bad thing (and it's a lot better than rejection...) And I think that typically, the early applicants are stronger than the RD pool (but maybe I'm just guessing here...think I read that somewhere, though). Don't know how many deferrals usually get in, but think positively! And good luck.

true true..well..i'm bummed as anything..but i just gotta pray and have faith!!

where are u from in nc???

fayetteville..you?

Charlotte....this sucks

we'll live! just pray and keep workin hard!

My thoughts on deferral is they saw something that put you above others to not just get rejected. But we don't have everything that they are looking for. Our stats aren't stellar but they want to compare them to others before flat out rejecting us.

I think you got deferred because they might want to see your 1st semester grades if your grades weren't good enough to get you in EA. They also may not know what their whole pool is going to look like, so they want to see you in the context of all the other applicants.

I agree but my school sent down my first marking period grades too so I'm assuming it's the second.

And for those of you who got deferred...remember..a large number of in-state students apply to Carolina early and RD and then end up choosing to go someplace else..so that opens up more space.

Is there anything we should do to increase our chances of getting in in RD?
Should we send in a corny "I really wanna go to UNC" letter or something. I dont know. I am going to call them this week if I can and ask them some questions.
