deferred...now what?

I got deferred from Yale yesterday. I was disappointed, cried a little, even though I expected to be rejected! I guess there was just something that kept me believing in admissions but unfortunately, there was no symphonic Bulldog on my computer screen last night. Anyways, I had a very strong resume and stats, great recs, lots of extracurriculars and community service, etc. The ONLY thing that was holding me back was my SAT scores. I was 2120 on the Reasoning Test and let me just say, my Subject tests were even worse (620 on Spanish and 660 on Math II). Should I use this opportunity, being deferred to RD, to take the ACT? Can I do that and submit them in place of my SAT scores?

Also, I've accomplished some things in the past month, post SCEA application submission. Is there a way to contact the admissions office and add these things to my resume? (All State Band, for instance).

Thanks everyone!

If cost or time isn't an issue, by all means, take the ACT. A good score can only help.

If you have new accomplishments that you want considered, you can email your regional admissions officer and ask them to add it to their file. You could also mention your continued interest in Yale and the usual spiel.
