I just got a letter that I have been deferred.
I'm really worried because my first semester grade was really bad.
I mostly did bad on my midterms and got mostly A's during the marking periods.
I had a family crisis and some other things,,,
Anyways, is there a way for me to send them marking period grades to umich along with the semester grades??
Could I send a letter explaining my bad midterm grades???
I really want to get in
please help me.

You can send those marking period grades, but they will heavily weight your final semester grades. I'd definitely go ahead and write that letter explaining your situation and how it affected your schoolwork.

How bad were your final grades?

gudana-
if you send in your midyear grades (which you should do!) and they aren't awesome, then yes, send a letter. Also a good idea to find out who your admissions officer is and contact them directly, but not more than once or twice or they might think you're a stalker. And don't forget, bribery might work! (I'm talking chocolate, people, not how much money your parents can donate to the school!)

I would actually say that you can talk to your regional director as much as you want. To get my admissions decision, it took about 12 weeks and I was e-mailing with my regional rep maybe once or twice a week. That is how you can really show them that you want to go to Michigan.

Thank you for advices.
They were very helpful.
I got 2 A's and 4 B's
all of my B's came from ap classes and all my classes were academic.
I was actually expecting 2 Bs but for 2 of my classes I had like 91-92%, but I got B- and C+ on those midterms.
I kind of feel that I am incapable of getting an A on ap classes...
Anyways, my parents saw the deferral letter and they were suggesting not sending in midyear grades, but I have to send them in right???

secretspy and knows-
how can I contact the admissions officer or regional director???
on the letter, they said calling or sending letters wouldn't help me, were they lying??
And how do I bribe them?
send chocolate by mail???
I am so sorry I keep asking those questions but I am clueless at this.
Again, I really apreciate your help

does your school even send midterm grades with semester grades? im guessing it depends on the school, but at mine, when you send your midyear grades to a school they only send your grades from the first and second marking periods.

I'm pretty sure they only send out semester grades.
Can I send them the grade report that I got that contains both marking period grades and semester grades?
