I have a 89 gpa (just under a 3.5), and a 1140 on the SAT. I also have a brother currently enrolled their. I am a 3 sport varsity athlete, captain of one team and president of two clubs.

Anyone else suprised or not really? And what do you think my chances are of getting in now?

Your SAT's are a little low. Take them again if you think it will help. Also are you a recruited athlete? That would help. You should get in regular decision.

i got in with an sat of 30 points higher, which truly makes no difference.

however, my gpa unweighted it a solid 4.0.

what program did you apply to? some are more selective then others. however, i applied to pharm and i was under the impression that was harder to get into then some of their other programs.

im out of state, and i think that helped me. are you in state, or out of state as well?

All right so I got an 85 average due to my horrible freshman year (don't ask). Don't know how to convert that to GPA (no one ever told us).

Anyway besides that

I'm Liberian-American (African-American)
SAT 660 CR, 590 M, 600 W
Ranked in the top 30% of class.
My high school is ranked number 1 in the state (out of state tho).
I played football my freshman and sophmore year.
Worked on the campaign team of former Senator Lincoln Chafee.
Went to LeadAmerica
Work for Providence Recreation in the summer and K-Mart during the summer and school year.
Member of Church Youth Group and was given Outreach Award.
Went to Brown University's Summer High School which I think I forgot to mention.

I thought I had a pretty good shot......but now I'm pretty damn nervous after getting deferred.

Non-chalant, how hard do you think it is to get into Brown's summer program? I am interested in going, I have heard that anyone willing to pay for it will get in, but I have also heard they don't accept everyone.

I honestly can't tell you my school offers Freshman courses at Brown to get introduced to high school teachers and stuff. We also get to take actual Brown Summer High School courses we want while we're there though. All I know is Brown has a good relationship with my school...because one of my friends even went back and did it again before Sophmore year.

baseball89, I had the same GPA but 310 points higher on the SAT - and pretty crappy ECs - and I got accepted to the honors college. Also note that I've taken 7 APs and several honors courses, so my weighted grade is pretty high. But it seems that they heavily weight SATs and course difficulty, and not so much on the ECs...

^ i agree. i had a high sat score and all my courses are ap and honors, although my gpa kinda sucks (about a B avg? but high weighted). i also got into the honors college, and i'm out of state.
