I’ve resisted posting on this site out of fear that it woudl be addictive. Do you guys know if people who get deferred ever get in after being deferred. I’ve also applied to the following schools: Columbia, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Tufts, UPenn. Also, Barnard, Vassar, Wellesley, Wesleyan, Michigan (got in already). What do you think my chances are at these schools.

No way to predict chances....its really impossible to do. No one here is on the admissions board and even if they were, the way the process works in completely arbitrary.

I was deferred back in December too and it said that we have an equal shot of getting in than any other ED or RD applicant so yea, its possible to still get in. Should you be very confident? probably not. A little hopeful? maybe.

I was deferred back in December...but I know that the Admissions Officer covering my area was originally deferred but then accepted. Look where he is now! Good Luck to every one...Two Weeks from today!

I did! Let them know what I have been doing in terms of leadership and different events that I have been spearheading. And mentioning that despite the deferral, Brown still remains my top choice school! After my deferral, a friend of mine who was accepted ED to Columbia a few years ago sent me different links that he found on what to do when you have been deferred. That included being very proactive and making sure that you let the school know that you haven't given up. Many ppl who are not accepted the first time around do give up on the school and move on. So you need to make sure that the school recognizes your enthusiasm. Especially when you are 1 out of 20,095 applicants!

yeah i did the same thing - i sent a letter updating them and reiterating that Brown is my first choice. Then i sent an extra rec from my MUN counselor and little piece about my experience at the MUN conference.

yeah, 20,095 applicants..... i'm also getting me hopes up but seeing that statistic reminds me that i shouldn't be. Well... i guess someone has to get in!

I personally find it quite amusing that once the ED decisions came out in December, those who were deferred went from flooding the Brown threads to suddenly disappearing and now that the RD decisions are but a few days away, a lot of us have made a special appearance back onto the threads...hopefully we will have some good news this time around!

crzy and daveb-- i'm totally right there with you (and remember you both from the ED boards! :-) ). i was definitely bitter after being deferred and swore off CC for awhile... well the Brown boards at least... but in the past month or so i've found it pretty impossible to stay away.
here's to hoping that us deferrees get good news come monday!

If I don't get in I'm going to have a really tough time deciding between my other schools none of which are my absolute favourites :( Where you have you guys gotten in so far?

In at the University of Michigan and the University of Florida (my kind-of safety schools); wait listed at Duke and Northwestern (hear from both of them this past Tuesday... Rough night, to say the least, and it made me particularly worried for monday); still waiting to hear from Brown, Dartmouth, UPenn, Cornell, Yale (all this coming Monday), Tufts (this coming Tuesday), and Wesleyan (website says letters are in the mail, and the New England area applicants received their decisions yesterday. I figure another day or two and those babies should reach FL).

These next few days could shape up to be the absolute worst ever, or the greatest.

Waitlisted at Northwestern and Wash U and have been accepted into all my safeties so far. So far, if I don't get into any other schools, I will probably go to the University of Rochester. Still waiting on Brown, Maryland, Michigan and Emory. One of the big reasons I applied to Brown was because of its great Neuroscience program and Rochester has a great Neuroscience dept.

Daveb, i think the feelings were mutual. We all stayed off the boards for those very same reasons. I would however, add resentment =)
