I was deferred from Brown ED. I was just wondering what I can possibly do between now and late March that might give me a shot at acceptance. I looked through the “Accepted” stats on the Brown '11 Decisions thread, and my math sat is too low (I’m going to retake-Brown says they will consider January scores for RD). Other than that, though, what can I possibly accomplish that could make them change their mind? I can’t drastically alter my ECs; I can’t rewrite my essays. Please give me some suggestions. (If there are any deferred → accepted applicants from previous years out there, your help would be most appreciated!)

scores only do so much...

ur best bet is to contact the admissions officer in ur region, write a letter stating that brown is ur top choice etc. that goes a long way, more so than a number (which most applicants fail to see)

Definitely let them know u are still interesting in attending. If any good things happen to you-awards, or pieces of news, send it to them with a cover letter asking them to put it in your file for further consideration.

And, of course, make sure that your other applications are just as strong, or even stronger, than your Brown one. In fact, I'd make that priority #1 before worrying about how to get admitted to Brown.

Ditto MattyB. Did they offer suggestions as to what you might do to strengthen your chances? A higher math score may help. Usually at this point most people are usually too exhausted to do much else. If you've taken a college course, an additional testimonial from the college instructor might help.
