I applied early to UConn and was deferred to regular then put on the waitlist. Since receiving notification of being waitlisted, I've sent a letter expressing my desire to go to UConn and also sent in two more personal essays since I don't think the one I initially sent was my best work. Based on my stats, what are my chances of getting accepted off the waitlist?

GPA: (weighted) 3.7
SAT: 1820/2400 (M: 510, CR: 570, W: 740)

Your SAT scores are low, but you are OOS, so I would say better than average chance.

Holy **** you got deferred/waitlisted with those stats? wow, if that’s the case for you then my future’s not too bright with a 3.2 GPA/1810 SAT… Good luck regardless.

whats your prospective major?

Looking at your stats compared to mine, I see no reason they would deny you admission considering I got accepted with lower stats than yours.

These aren’t all of my stats, but here are some basics:

3.5 weighted
school doesn’t tell me my unweighted
all honors and ap’s
25 act
didnt send sats
really good recommendation from dean of students

Uhh, that’s all I can think of at the moment haha.

Prospective students have to remember that your admissions decisions also depends on the major you’re applying for. Considering I applied for journalism, I don’t think UConn has a considerable amount of journalism students like say, BU does.

Regardless, I’d say your stats are pretty impressive, so good luck!

I got deferred and then waitlisted too! =[

3.42 GPA
1720 SAT and 24 ACT but didnt send the act
really good recommendations and EC’s!

I got waitlisted too. 26 act and 3.8 gpa. I’m in clubs and have done lots of community service. Does anyone know how many people get accepted off the waitlist? A lot?

Last year, out of 21 thousand applicants, only 1839 were put on the waitlist and 1% was then admitted so thats about 184 students…

are you serious?! that stinks…i mean i got in(EA) in the nursing program OOS with only 1590(2400) 1080(1600) 24ACT 3.91 GPA(unweighted) 28/204 Class Rank/ With only one honors and one AP. What program did you apply for?

Undecided so ACES…

One thing you hear about UConn every year, is the wide range of acceptances and waitlists/rejections. Some students with high stats get rejected, some with low stats get in and there never is a common denominator.
They want OOS students, I would call, have your GC call, it couldn’t hurt. They might be busting at the seams now though, I know a lot of students applied, but it couldn’t hurt, they haven’t gotten the decisions back yet, many using it as a safety might not attend.
