I suspect my relatively low GPA and out-of-state status played a huge part in not being accepted. With the prospective 7th semester grades, what are my chances of being accepted? I applied to U-M knowing that I would likely not get in, so I won't be completely crushed if my chances are zero.

Stats when applied:
-- GPA: 3.2 W
-- Rank: 143 out of 542
-- ACT: 30
-- Essays, Recommendations: Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to read them. However, I was told that they were overwhelmingly positive.
-- EC: Marching Band. Lack of extracurriculars probably played a part, as well. Should I have told them that I lived more than an hour away from the school, so doing EC activities was extremely difficult for me?
-- No APs, 2 Honors, plenty of college prep.
-- OOS. (Toledo, OH)
-- Trend of getting all A's... if that helps.

Prospective 7th semester stats:
-- GPA: ~3.3-3.4 W
-- Rank: Should change quite a bit, with the AP class and the fact that I'll have 28/25 needed credits.
-- AP Calculus AB

Pity I couldn't get my AP Lit. class scheduled for 7th semester.

I attended two different high schools. One did not offer a wide assortment of AP courses until you were in your Junior and Senior years. I attended that school my Freshman and Sophomore years, taking honors English classes.

My current high school does offer a decent amount of AP courses. When I arrived from my old school, a few of my courses didn’t count towards the requirement, so I had to take their versions over again. (Notably, a freshman history course, PE, and health. Also, my counselor placed me in a college prep class, and told me that it was the equivalent to my college-level algebra class. Needless to say, it was not. So that timeslot was wasted as well.)

So, come my senior year, the only AP courses I could take were AP Calculus and AP Literature. They offer AP Chemistry, but I struggled with comprehending regular chemistry. (I transferred to the new school about two months after my old school had started, and so the classes were at different areas.) I’m more of a biology guy, but they don’t offer AP Biology.

Here’s to hoping! Sucks that I have to wait until April to find out. That doesn’t give very much time to prepare for either moving to Ann Arbor or to the cities of my other choices. :

For being an OOS applicant your GPA is low and your ACT is not that great either.
No E.C’s most likely hurt you since E.C’s aren’t limited to just clubs, they can be outside of school volunteering organizations, competitions, etc
Your lack of AP’s are also going to hurt you. Your major is Political science, so to show UM you are determined to major in it, you should have probably considered self studying or taking AP US History and AP Government if your school didn’t or did offer the classes.

Your GPA is really low, man, especially if it’s weighted. I’m gonna call it a hefty reach, especially given the grades/scores of others that are being deferred. :(

I don’t understand why there’s a difference between weighted and unweighted. U-M doesn’t recalculate GPAs and my school doesn’t even print the unweighted GPA on their transcripts, as far as I can tell.
