I was deferred from a school early action. I know that one thing I can do is keep my grades up because mid year grades are important. Is there anything else I can do in order to increase my chances of getting in?
Many Ivies, but not all, defer 60% of EA/ED applicants with an acceptance rate in RD that is identical to rest of RD pool. Other than nailing 1st semester grades, I’m not certain that there’s much that can be done short of having a significant EC accolade happen in the next 60-90 days.
I think the key is to make sure that you have a good mix of match and safety schools in the RD pool, just in case.
–You can write a letter of continuing interest…keep it short and sweet letting the admissions officer know (if true) that the college remains your top.choice. If it is true you can say if accepted I will attend.
–If you have any notable updates you can let the admissions officer know.
–Keep your grades up.
– Do a great job on your other applications.
@Chembiodad okay thank you, and by the way this wasn’t an Ivy school. My username is just an inside joke, the school I applied to has around a 40% acceptance rate
thank you! @happy1
Ok, then that’s different. Getting from Deferred to Accepted at a selective school is a much different chance than a highly or most selective with 20% or lower acceptance rate.
In your case, you would want to craft a short letter with an update since yup submitted your app and a reinforcement as to why…Send it directly to the admissions dean that oversees your state.
