Due to the "leak," I have recently discovered that I have been deferred (Assuming the site is real). So I was curious to see if anyone knows what % of applicants that were deferred are eventually accepted? Any help would be appreciated.

It seems like Cornell does not release deferral rates. My friend told me that (and this seems true), that some colleges defer only those who have a great chance of admission, while others defer nearly all those not accepted, except for the utter worst. Columbia probably follows the first model, as at my school 4/5 kids that applied were rejected and 1 deferred, and another year 4 girls that were deferred were later accepted.

Duke defers 80-90 percent of ppl not accepted, but someone from my school somehow got in after being deferred. UPenn does 1/3 accept, 1/3 reject, 1/3 deferred.

Where did you find out through this leak?

I am aware of a few kids (3-4) who were deferred by Cornell and were later accepted RD. So it does seem like Cornell really does re-evaluate the ED pool and will accept some kids. But if you are defered, you really do have to be ready to move on and see what all your other options are. Good luck to all.

thanks, does anybody have any concrete numbers about the chances of a deferred applicant?

wat were ur stats big guy?

I belive they defer 40%.
