i really really want to attend Vassar college but i'm sure that my family wont be able to afford it. my parents income is about 60,000 (only my dad works) and i have a sister in college. my question is, if i'm waitlisted, because it is such a competitive school, would that hurt the financial aid offers i recieve? i'm definitely starting the whole application process earlier but will there be anything that might hurt me because i'm waitlisted?

Vassar guarentees to meet financial need; if you're taken from the waitlist, you'll still get aid to meet your need at Vassar.

Go for it.

wow, that sound pretty good. thanks

Hopefully that's true but my daughter was waitlisted this year and Vassar indicated that they could not guarentee to meet financial aid to those accepted from the waitlist. Maybe they put that in writing to protect themselves.

bluejay:

Generally, yes. I've had a few friends taken from the waitlist, and aid was not a problem, although one of them had only 99% of their need met. The other three had 100% met.

Generally if you're on the waitlist and need lots of aid, you don't get off the waitlist.
