<p>Community Service: 200+ hours- tutoring neighborhood children and leading tours of my high school for middle school visitors; volunteering at Delaware Hospice, Dover Interfaith Men’s Homeless Shelter, and Dover soup kitchen; raising money for march of dimes and juvenile diabetes research foundation, etc. </p>

<p>Merit Award: </p>

<p>$4,000 in merit scholarships (at time of admission)
$15,000 in in-state merit scholarships (not affiliated with UD) </p>

<p>Financial aid award was amazing!! </p>

Tons of community service, my son has been a volunteer fireman for over 3 years</p>

<p>Will not attend, felt a smaller school was a better fit for him.</p>

<p>After reading many of these posts I am very disappointed in his merit award amount. maybe in-state students are awarded less overall? The college he will be attending offered him $18,000 based on his gpa/sat/class rank - but it is a private school.</p>

<p>Important to note that my daughter is finishing up her senior year at UD - her credentials were similar to his with slightly higher SAT scores and she was not offered any merit award at all.</p>
