D status changed to “official notification through mail” a week ago but still no letter? Thinking this is not good. Anyone get a letter after having status changed to notification through mail?

@Bzylizy read thru this thread. The change of status does not mean the letter is in the mail it merely means that is UD’s only official notification. While they do post online, mail is their official means of notification. Your D may still have to wait weeks for a decision and it doesn’t have any hidden meaning.

yes @bzlizy mine is the same… changed to official notification through mail" it used to say “under review” it changed Monday… no word yet. My son’s school will send out his term grades Monday. (All A’s) hoping this will sway their decision.

Still waiting for answer. My question is: did anyone get the status that “official notification through mail” on site and then find out it meant rejected? I am a UD grad as is my son’s father. He got accepted at Penn State.

Ughhhh. The Blue Hen Portal is down until Feb 2.

D just told me she called admissions a few days ago. She asked if there was any meaning to the status change to notification by mail. She asked if they actually post online if you are denied or differed. They told her they do post denied and differed status. They told her even though she had all her app material in by early oct. It was not complete until Dec. so it is still under review. We are guessing that is because she went for an interview in late Nov. Maybe this will be the week—one way or the other.

My daughter got a SECOND acceptance letter from UD in the mail today (I’m thinking because she changed her major) and while my daughter’s name and address were on the outside folder, the letter was for a girl in New Jersey. Obviously, somebody in the office mixed up the folders/letters. Things must be pretty chaotic in there right now. Guess I’ll be calling on Monday.

Son just checked Blue Hen portal to find an acceptance to the Honors College ChemE + $11,000/yr. Was actually hoping for a bit more since he has free ride options elsewhere for being a National Merit Finalist.

BTW, he submitted his application in mid December

Was anyone else invited to Distinguished Scholars Weekend?

Yes, my son was invited also. Are parents welcome?

lefty1 D PORTAL CHANGED TODAY TO IN THE MAIL LIKE YOURS CROSSING FINGERS FOR GOOD NEW LET ME KNOW IF YOU HEAR I KNOW YOUR SONS CHANGED LAST WEEK

@miesha…don’t get too excited, it doesn’t mean the decision is in the mail. For whatever reason this is UD’s way of saying that their only official notifcation is by mail. Not sure what the reason is for when it changes to that statement but it can stay like that for weeks. Hopefully with their new “rolling” admission it does mean there is some action on the horizon for you but based on what others are stating it seems to be same old same old, meaning nothing more than your official notification will come via mail when it does go out. :(

Regarding the Distinguished Scholars Weekend, does anybody have any idea what the decisions are based off of? SAT scores maybe? I was hoping for an invite - had an SAT score of 2140 (670 V, 760 M, 710 W) and a GPA of 4.12/4 (weighted).

it’s strange because it used to say it was “under review” now it says decison via mail… you’d think that meant a decision had been made… @Miesha… fingers crossed for us both!

Daughter checked her portal today and found out she was accepted. ChemE, honors college, $11,000 merit. OOS

I know other people portal change with a actual decision … us noooooo we still have to be tortured i wish i was a drinker my husband is such a good man MY D has been so down in dumps and she’s such a huge sports fan he took her to Super Bowl yesterday as a last min surprise bucket list dream so happy to have her mind off things for a day

I agree that it is odd that some people don’t get that status change to mail and some changes right to a decision. It doesn’t mean anything unless the school has changed it’s process which could be the case. I am sure to them (UD) it means something but don’t read into it. My D had under review for weeks then it cahnged to decision via mail and it stayed like that for over 2 months until her decision finally was posted online when they released decisions. I see on this thread that some people have gotten their decision in the mail and their status still says under review. I know it is hard to be patient especially since other schools have released decisions. Hang in there guys it will all be over soon enough!!

ajh175, there is a luncheon the first day that parents can attend. And while I think you’re welcome to stick around until Saturday, I don’t believe that there will be any “parent portions” of the event. And since the students will be busy the whole day, I don’t think there will be much of anything for parents to do.

Has anyone from MA heard from UD? My daughter was informed the other week that a decision was made and she was to receive the decision in the mail and her portal would be updated in a week. It has been over a week, nothing received or portal update, so she contacted admissions and was now notified that no decision has been made. Her app and materials were finalized mid November, so she is in her 12 week now.

On January 28th I posted that my daughter’s portal changed to “official notice via mail” now as of today it is back to “your application is under review” who knows when we will hear.
