Hey guys! So it looks like I’m going to be choosing between Towson or Delaware. I plan on majoring in communications (I want to be a journalist) and either double majoring or minoring in political science. I’m in state for Towson. Towson probably has the better journalism program, it has a journalism track and is a more urban location for internships, while Delaware’s communication program seems weak.it isn’t focused on journalism and more on the theory it seems like. However, delaware has a much better overall national reputation. Is it more important to have a strong overall school reputation or a stronger major reputation? In addition, is it worth the extra money at delaware? I don’t know about aid yet but I’m assuming I won’t get much. Money does matter. I know Towson is probably the better logical choice but I just prefer the campus and overall reputation and feel of Delaware. I don’t hate Towson but I don’t love it either. What should I do?
Delaware has a very limited communications program and it is competitive. Freshman are "comm interest’ majors and they pick the top 125 to become comm majors in the soph year. So the professors will grade on a curve to push who they want into the top 125. The good part is that the students who are comm majors are very driven and serious, but it also means you may not get the major.
