What should I do? After scholarships, the cost to go to Delaware-Honors is 6k, and the cost for Richmond is about 18k. Richmond has always been my dream school and I think I would have unique opportunities there, but I would come out of college with 40k+ in loans. If I go to Delaware, I would have no loans after college, and my parents agreed to pay for grad school. That seems like a great deal, but would I be able to get into a good grad school after going to Delaware?

bump./././.

What will you study? My parents are UD grads. My dad did amazing things with his engineering degree from Delaware. I plan to apply to Chemical Engineering at UD. Their program is ranked 6th or 7th in the nation I think. I'm not too familiar with Richmond, but I've heard it's a nice place.

I plan on studying business. Richmond's business program is much stronger, but money is a big issue. Could I still go onto a good grad school after taking business at UDel?

You can absolutely get into a good grad school from Del Honors. Check out some of the threads about State Honors schools on the parents boards including little tidbits like PSU Honors' 100% Med. School admissions rate. Del. Honors is impressive. Unlike some Honors Programs it entails a significant portion of students---about 14% last I heard and the Honors Dorm is the best right in the middle of the campus quad. They really cater to the Honors kids offering them prime internships, research opportunities, and classes. Richmond is an excellent school too but with the $ you save at Del. you can study abroad some summer, go to grad school, etc. Newark Del is steps off campus and the train ride direct to NYC, Phila., & D.C. is about an hour or so. Did you attend accepted student days at either of them yet?

Well, I stayed in the dorms at both schools when I was there for scholarship competitions.

I much prefer Delaware. And for the mba, job experience is more important than where you went

I'd take a close look at Richmond. It's an excellent school, but money is obviously an issue. The Robins School of Business is exceptionally strong. Did you apply for any outside scholarships? Try to talk to your HS counselor about funding before you make a final decision. Good luck!
