Delaware: Pros:
1) able to pay for it without loans (or at least without a lot of loans)
2) I liked the campus and town a lot
3) various majors I could choose from
4) more "prestigious" than Ithaca

Cons:
1) pretty big
2) big into college sports (I am not a sports person, at all).

Ithaca: Pros:
1) not too big
2) more majors that I am interested in than Delaware
3) liked the campus

Cons:
1) ****ING EXPENSIVE
2) didn't like campus as much as Delaware.

I have a few questions.

If I end up going to Delaware, just how big is the sports fervor? For those of you who came from a relatively small high school (my entire school has around 800 students), how is it fitting into a bigger school? (I'm not totally against the idea of a big school, but I am a little wary of it).

I live in NY and many of my friends go to UDel and Ithaca. I know UDel is big about their Blue Hen football but I am not sure about everything else. Also, If you got into UDel you must’ve gotten money from Ithaca…right? But I really think UDel would be a better fit for you, you get out of college without worrying about loans, you obtained a “better” education, and I am sure you’ll have a good time. Go for UDel.

(Note: My high school only has about 500 students)

I was accepted to Delaware & I really loved the price and campus.
I know Delaware is a lot of partying & that’s it’s into football but I don’t think other sports are that popular. Most- if not all- the people I know that go there love it. I’ve also heard that although 15k people sounds big, the schools has a small school feel and you won’t be too overwhelmed.
I don’t know much about Ithaca, but a few friends of mine are attending there in the fall.

Delaware seems like a good option for you, especially with the nice price tag. I’m in a similar situation (choosing between schools with a difference in price tag) and my view on it is: I’ll be fine no matter where I go, so is the extra money really worth it?

It makes sense to go to a school that is not only more practical financially, but which is in a town you like better AND costs less. This seems like a pretty easy decision. Good luck!

Ha ha thanks, I was only thinking Ithaca because it has more majors that deal with journalism/mass media, something I’m interested in (not to say Delaware doesn’t have majors dealing with those, just not as much).

To be honest, I know someone who went to Ithaca with high hopes and she hated it. The winter seemed endless to her and it just wasn’t a good fit. So that’s another reason why Delaware sounds good to me. That’s just one person, though.
