Demonstrating Interest.

WUSTL is probably my top choice school, but my parents didn't let me apply ED because they did not want a binding decision. So, I will be applying RD.

From reading the threads, it seems like WU really wants people who show interest. I've visited campus (met with an Int'l. Area Studies professor, had an interview with a current student, went on a campus tour) and have been in contact with my admissions officer because of some questions my GC wanted to ask her (about my being a Native applicant, documentation, etc.). Both my visit to campus and my contact with the admissions officer have been wonderful, but I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas of showing that WU is really my top choice.

I'm applying for a few scholarships/scholar programs and from other posts I've gathered that this may show some interest. Does anyone know of any other ways to demonstrate my interest?

Wado!

You have shown as much interest as a person can show besides applying ED. WashU definitely knows you are interested. In your interview, did you explain why you didn't apply ED? The only other (small) thing I can think of, if it's not too late, is to write the Admissions Office and the professor you spoke with a letter thanking them for accommodating you on your visit and how you hope to cross paths with them in the future, etc., but that really isn't a big deal.

Good Luck!

Okay, so I visited campus last spring break, and I already e-mailed the student with which I spoke, that was way back in the spring, wow, I barely remember it! haha. I'm pretty sure that I did though.

Anyway, at the time, I didn't explain why I wasn't applying ED because, in all honesty, I thought I would pretty much be able to apply ED, things changed a little. I obviously didn't tell anyone at WU that I was going to apply ED, which is fortunate. haha.
And writing to the Admissons Office and the professor I spoke with....I sent him an e-mail last spring as well, but I think I may do that again, that's a good idea. Do you think I should send one last e-mail to my admissions officer one more time though? That may be a good idea as well. Thanks!

I believe you've shown as much interest as possible to WashU with the exception of hitching a tent and living there for a semester. Anyway if you it would put your mind at ease you can email the admissions officer, and state just what you've told us in your first post.

hahaha, guys, don't think I'm like some of those other crazy people on this site....."I have a 2400 SAT and have interned with NASA, what are my chances at WashU, I know not very good, but please be honest".....I am seriously just curious, I'm new to this whole college admissions thing! Sorry if I came off as really neurotic.

But, hey, I may just shoot an e-mail to admissions. hahahahaha.

So, to recap, you think it's reasonable to send an e-mail to WashU admissions telling them why I didn't apply ED (and that it's still my top choice school)? You don't think this will make me look like a fool?

I don't think sending the email could hurt you :-D. Good luck!

It won't hurt you at all- definitely send it, you can only gain from doing so.
