I’m sorry soccer, hang in there I was denied too.

I not upset now but if I don’t get into UMass then I will have a big problem.

Soccer, last year my son didn’t get his UMass decision until mid-April, so hang in there. He was accepted (now a freshman at UDel). I think UDel is getting more competitive by the minute.

I was wondering if the people who got denied were surprised? I heard a lot of people at my school say their stats were in the average range for udel but got waitlisted or denied.

I was not really surprised for myself. I was surprised at people who had stats that, I think were very good, and got denied. I did read though that they had a huge amount of applications this year and the pool standard was higher than ever. I just wonder when I see some stats like 93 averages high 1800’ SAT’s all kinds of EC’s and these kids are denied.
I think it says more about the system than these kids…It’s rediculous really. It’s not Yale.

honestly this seems ridiculous, i think they consider what program you apply to, as well as what state you are from. i applied from maryland,

my stats were
GPA: 3.5 weighted
SAT: M 610 CR 610 W 570
ACT: 28

i had 10 AP classes, and maybe 6 or 7 honors classes, but i was applying to the art program and was accepted. even though i feel like my stats were considerably lower than some of you guys.

Stonehill14- Did you decide against Stonehill? Is that why you are on the UDEL threads?
Waiting on financial aid packet from Stonehill. D did get into UDEL but no scholarships. She has good numbers, very good ecs and had a good interview with admissions at Del.

cxrinx, did you have to send them a sample of your work? I think that they really take the classload into account. Clearly your 10 AP classes is great.

I think EC’s are not the big deal people say they are, everyone has them. It’s probably more of a negative if you don’t have rather than a plus if you do.

Maybe there was something in the application that they did not like. My son was like #6 in his class last year and did not get into Binghamton. The guidance counselors couldn’t figure out. We’ll never know why he didn’t get in (not even waitlisted). He got into UD Honors and UMD College Park Scholars.

Fact is UD is getting much more popular. They’re getting more applications and the applicants are higher quality. And the class is smaller than last year. The result is what you see here.

Misterbill…Although usually not the case with state universities, your S could be the victim of the infamous “Tuft’s Syndrome”. In general, I think the advent and widespread use of the Common Application and the elimination of ED for many schools has somewhat skewed the acceptance process all over. Best of luck, anyway.

No I’m still considering stonehill. I also really like quinnipiac
