I was denied from UGA and it’s my top choice. I was put on the wait-list at Clemson and have been accepted to Auburn and Alabama. Should I go to one of my backups or should I go to a smaller in-state school and then transfer in for Fall 2020?
No one can answer that but you. I would advise my son to choose one of the schools where he was fully accepted and embrace the experience. But if your heart is set on UGA, the community college and transfer route is an excellent way to becoming a Dawg. Good luck to you!
Edited to say that in my case, finances would play a HUGE part in my decision. Do you have in-state tuition at any of those schools? Can you afford out-of-state tuition? I would consider the cost but you may not need to.
I would also encourage you to go where you have been accepted. There is no reason you can’t transfer from Auburn or Alabama, but I would bet if you start school with an open mind, you will enjoy your experiences!
I’m a GA resident so no I’d have to pay out of state tuition.
Which instate schools did you apply too? @17student17
I only applied to UGA. I don’t have any interest in any other state school.
One thing to consider, and I am not sure, but I am fairly certain of, is that if you leave Georgia to begin college elsewhere you don’t get the Hope if you transfer to Georgia later. Its something you need to check on. I would recommend you apply to other Georgia Universities as a backup plan if you opt to go the transfer route.
