I also got rejected from storrs engineering with a 3.97 (they might have calculated it to be as low as a 3.77) at one of the top public schools in america (20% in my grade but the top gpa is around 4.8 on a 4 scale so…) , and had a 1850-1950 SAT score, as well as a legacy there from my parents. I’m in 5 clubs and a president of one and am applying to multiple ivy leagues, UCONN was my top choice, but also a safety (well apparently not). From what i’ve heard around our school who they took seemed very random. Some kids who got into yale didn’t get into UCONN, while some kids who miss 2 days a week, in no clubs, and i cant imagine being very smart got in. UCONN isn’t very consistent though.
