UConn branch campuses?

Im currently a junior in high school and know that theres only a very small chance of me getting into the UConn storrs campus. (3.1 gpa and 159 on Psat) so im strongly considering going to the Uconn greater Hartford campus then transferring into storrs. i was just curious how people like it there and if its a good option for me, i dont care much about not going away for freshman year because im hoping to keep my part time job and save up money. My main hope is that it will be easy to make friends at the branch campuses and also as far as transferring into the main campus, ive heard that other big schools room their new transfer students together... will i be surrounded by transfer students when i go to Storrs?
If you guys can share any information with me about you or your friends experiences with the whole Branch-storrs campus process please let me know :)

I will tell you my sister has been in the branch campus system for years (Torrington, West Hartford, Waterbury), she enjoys the convenience of being able to keep her full time job while being able to commute to school and pursue a degree in a really academically sound environment. The only thing that stinks is that later on she had to commute from campus to campus to take certain classes not offered at our local branch.

You won’t have that problem since you plan on transferring. I know several people who have transferred from the branches to Storrs and it was very smooth. If you know someone you should be able to just room with them, there is transfer housing from what I know but it is not mandatory if you have a roommate set up. I know this because I am a transfer applicant for the fall (from a different 4 year university) and I have a friend on campus who has already filed a housing application for Fall 2013 for me to be his roommate.
