So I’ve been selected to submit additional verification forms before UCLA gives me an estimate of my financial aid package. I need to submit my parents’ 2015 tax transcripts, but since they just filed their taxes, transcripts do not become available until 3 weeks later. Then, it would take another 5-10 business days for the IRS to mail them to me, meaning that I may not be able to submit the forms to UCLA until May and that I will not be able to compare their aid package with other schools’ before the SIR is due on May 1st. Would the financial aid office let me first submit the actual 1040 forms as a temporary substitute and give me a rough estimate of what they would give me? I really want to go to UCLA, but if I can’t even know how much aid I’d receive before I choose whether or not to enroll, I might as well go to Berkeley, which has also requested verification forms but was kind enough to give me an initial estimate.
I am in the exact same situation as you right now! I emailed the financial aid office and got permission to send in a copy of our tax returns because we can’t get the IRS forms in a timely manner due to a change of address. Try emailing them too! This is so stressful
