deposit and answer question

I was filling out my reply card for penn today. I noticed there is a a box for a social security number, the thing is I'm an international, so should I just leave this blank? Normally I would have just left it blank but someone told me that for all means and pruposes my Penn ID number would be considered my social security number for any Penn document, is this true? What should I do?

for a definitive answer, call the admissions office tomorrow

International students get assigned a Student Identification Number instead of the SSN. Do you have that one already? I got it after I submitted my application, I think. But yeah, call the admissions office.

Thanks for your help. Yeah I wrote down my international student ID number instead. I searched the penn site yesterday and in one of the FAQ it explicitly said for internationals to write this ID when asked for their SSN.
