I don’t know why people think I was saying in my original post how smart I am. I don’t really think I said that and I certainly never said that I see others as lesser. All I said was that I feel like a lot of people never really bother thinking about certain things that for others bring a lot of pain.
I really appreciate everyone’s insights, although I’m sort of regretting making this thread. It’s my fault, really; I didn’t really clarify my problem well enough and this has led to some misunderstanding.

firstly read about heidegger. i think this will be relevant to your “condition.”
secondly, seek an outlet besides school, such as an extracuric, or maybe a religious group in which you can find some existential meaning.
thirdly, you seems to be living in the past and future, and not the present. live the present, because the present is the past and future combined, realizing this experience will help you out
fourthly, if none of this works and you’re still in your existential crisis, meditate, or see a therapist.

Maybe you just aren’t passionate about your major and hence need a change? I am similar to you in many respects. I’ve never had any friends, my parents think I’m crazy and are attempting to coerce me to see a therapist because I am clearly not a “normal teenager”, but I couldn’t be happier in college and studying/doing problem sets in my room for hours on end.

Bro, this is deep.

I can’t emphasize how true this is, though.

I don’t think intelligence is corrolated to depression but rather the difference between people who can live life without certainty and people who can’t.

Abstract thinking is associated with the latter type of person. David Foster Wallace touched on this in his book on infinity.

Just continue until you are able to transfer to a college you actually want to go to. Everything will get better!

You know what?

Every college has a ‘student body consisting of (insert a couple of unpalatable adjectives)’.

You know what I love about that?

You can really bond with all the students who don’t fit that demographic, of whom there are many.

That’slifekid.
