Does anyone have a clue as to the acceptance rate for this school? It's literally harder to find the Holy Grail than it is to find the acceptance rate for a Canadian University...

Apparently, mcgilldad have posted the "Holy Grail" n times already in the discussion board.

Enrolment reports

yea but that only shows how many people enroll. oh well i guess ill just wait.

Sometimes I just wonder why you bother to know the admission statistics. They are just numbers and do not show anything. The acceptance rate fluctuates from year to year depending on the overall performance of the applicants. I would say give it a shot even the admission rate was very low last year and just hope for the best (and prepare for any eventuality of course).

Well, I wish they didn't mean anything, but unfortunately they really do. The acceptance rate of a school tells you the standards of a school and how likely of a chance you have of getting in. It helps to know the statistics just to get a general idea of how demanding the school is. For all I know, Desautels could have an 8 percent acceptance rate or a 48 percent acceptance rate. It helps to know those sorts of things...

Okay then. Here you go
Admissions Profile

Once again, that only shows enrolled students. Nevermind though, it's not a big deal, I was just wondering.

40-50 percent gets admitted to the school as a whole according to wikipedia! Management has entrance average of 90% if I remember right!

"Your admission to our Faculty puts you in a very select group. The approximately 600 students who enter the Commerce program each year are chosen from as many as 5,000 applicants." <-- would be a direct quote from the congrats e-mail I got from the department lol! Management has higher, if not highest entrance average within McGill!

600 students out of ~5640 is about 12%. Seeing as the entrance average for all McGill undergrads this year was ~89%, having an entrance average of 90% isn't that much of a feat. Especially when you consider the Arts faculty which has ~1100 more kids, with an average that's probably not more than +- 1% that of the management's, having "the higher, if not highest" entrance average isn't hard (because you're at least 1100 people smaller than, or ~35% the size of the biggest faculty, which is subsequently the highest contributor to the average).

Basically what I'm trying to say is: engineering rules, we clearly hold the highest average (I believe they said something at frosh about the engineering faculty having a 94% average).

Yet the "dumb kids" from ETS beat the snot out of you in any and all engineering competitions.

quick question HOW DO I CREATE A NEW THREAD its about to drive me crazy

top right hand corner under My Control Panel and FAQ on the main mcgill page

I don't really know what ETS is; I'm not very well versed in the other Canadian schools (I've just been told U of T, and Waterloo, though waterloo especially, are power-houses in the engineering sciences). I can name a decent amount of other Canadian institutions but, admittedly, I don't know much about their reputations.
