Cradle Of Filth, you're English is just fine. But I completely share your views in that 'if I didn't already get Fed Ex mail like my friend did, I probably didn't get in like she did.' Which sucks. Alot. If it was 10 am in California when you posted that, then it might be the end of their day by the time they've finished sending out all the e-mails. You might have to wait another 4 to 5 hrs.

It really isn't the end of the world because if you find that you've been deferred to their waiting list, and if you've done new stuff between when you first applied and now, then you can add to your file, and hope that your new activities tip the scales in your favor. Also, others who've received admissions might decline Caltech's offer, and then you'd take the spotlight in their stead. Also, some of their accepted students might die and vacancies might open up. Hmmm....

What do you suppose they meant with "by the end of the day" ? Their 5 p.m.? I am really anxious, although i'm pretty sure i'll be rejected. Btw, I wouldn't say that not having received anything yet (by FedEx) means that you will be reject, at least here in El Salvador, all those courriers are somewhat unreliable, and as far as I understand, it can take them 4 business days (until tomorrow?) to bring a package.

Hi Anik, pacific34. Same as here. My self-esteem has decreased because of this email. I didn't even qualify to waitlists. My English Effiency score or my financial situation hampered my chance, i think. I will go outside and drink today.

Here is the email :

Dear CradleOfFilth,

On behalf of the staff, faculty and students on the Admission Committee, I
would like to thank you for the time and effort taken in completing your
application to Caltech. It is with regret that the Admissions Committee is
unable to offer you a place in Caltech's Class of 2012.

Given the number of highly qualified students who apply to Caltech each year
and the very few places available, many talented students must be turned away.

In light of the outstanding achievements and credentials you presented to
Caltech, we have no doubt that you will have tremendous success as you pursue a
demanding collegiate education. I encourage you to pursue your educational
options with the same thoughtfulness with which you considered Caltech.

This is getting frightening. I didn't even get an email ( and I really hope that I don't get one now), but almost every email I see is a rejection :(

'In light of the outstanding achievements and credentials you presented to
Caltech, we have no doubt that you will have tremendous success as you pursue a demanding collegiate education.'

Oh please, as if some artificial response is what we need to hear right now.

Lithuanian guy with lame SAT's over here. My "outstanding achievements and credentials" weren't enough. Oh well. Nevermind. Let's try again next year.

EDIT: Oh, and I got my email 1AM in Lithuanian time = 4PM in Pasadena.

baphomet! hi mate! :))) remember me, from serbia? :))) yeah, we're in the same s**t here, haven't received email either :)

Two of my friends got emails 2 minutes and 4 minutes to 4PM, caltech time... So, did they skipped couple of us by accident, or there is still hope?

This was by far the longest week of my life. I think I'm gonna lose my liver and everything from all of this ups and downs (you know i'm gonna get rejected, but wait maaaaaaybe, i get waitlisted, ohhh it would be so cool to be admitted... nooooo i'm rejected fro sure..), and now this... I haven'te received an email or the letter, and now I'm gonna hope all day for a waitlist!

It's really awful of them if they just... missed us...

So who hasn't receive anything by now? Wing Commander, GeekNerd, ashlee103, foo182.. anyone else?

"So who hasn't receive anything by now? Wing Commander, GeekNerd, ashlee103, baphomet, foo182.. anyone else?"

God, cant believe I slipped you there :) hmmmm I hope caltech isn't doing the things like I do, cause they would make a mistake on every fifth intl student!
