I filled up all two pages with some elevated vocabulary words, and three examples and only got an 8....

I got a 10 essay on the compromise essay. I used the story of the abduction of Persephone (in mythology) and gay marriage (how the gov't left it to the states to decide).

12 essay. 3 examples, one history 2 books

I should really fill up the space for the two pages because I got a nine and thought it was a pretty good essay that was about one and a half pages. = [

i got a 10 on the compromise topic. I used slavery and the economic crisis

I got an 11. My topic was compromise and i talked about a) the cuban missile crisis and b)personal experience~compromise between my dad and me about getting a part-time job during school(made up).

I got a 10 on the compromise topic.

I thought I would get an 8, b/c my proctor was retarded and only gave us 20 min., and I wasn't able to fnish. But I still got a 10.

I wrote about the Articles of Confederation and the long steps taken to create the Constitution, and I also wrote about Siddhartha by Herman Hesse and how Siddhartha went through a lot of experiences to finally reach enlightment.

I got a 12. I never went out of my way to use big words and just wrote in a flowing, connected form...

Everyone has a different topic... mine was about quick decisions and whether its the best...

I used the Constitution/Articles of Confederation and Huck Finn as my two examples.

got a 12.

I only remember using 4 big words.

first example: the grapes of wrath
second example: their eyes were watching god.
third example: i forgot o_o

but i filled up two pages.

the key is to develop your essay.
quality > quantity.

The topic we got was the one about words vs. actions (rockermcr). I got a 9 :( not happy at all.. But, I want to see and essay by someone who got 10, or above (after Nov 1st of course)...

10.. 1.5 pages.
Kite Runner & Made up example.

I believe the key is just filling up the space..

^I think you are right.
I got an 8 both times on my two essays. The lengths were roughly the same, but this time I wrote and structured my essay a lot better than last time but still received an 8.
I filled up a page and a little less than a quarter of the 2nd.

so...length does matter?...

There was some article that showed MIT researchers who actually proved that the length definitely corresponds with score. According to the article, a person could stand far away and look at the amount of text written and from that, give a score that would be 1 or 2 pts away from the actual score.

i got an 11, and i didnt have any examples (didnt know much about the sat lol). i did however fill up 2 pages with random words and a very abstract based analysis of the effects of a rash decision.

i got a 9 on the oct one,my topic was about true intention/attitudes.
i used rosa parks n beowulf, 2 more lines till full 2 pgs, kinda rushed last example n conclusion, =S

I got an eleven on mine and I just used one example; I used A Clockwork Orange and I talked about how Alex(protagonist) was always making rash, hasty decisions that were self serving. I said that if he were more prudent about his decsion making, he would be able to understand the true ramifications of his actions not only on himself but on other arounds him.

i got a 10 and i thought it was the worst essay i had ever written in my entire life (since 8th grade). My topics were Poisonwood bible, chess grandmasters (in general), and doctors.

I got a 12. I was really pretentious and meta and wrote about the writing process in a way that barely answered the question. And yeah, it was long.
