I got one yesterday. Are they suppose to just schedule a day without asking? My email says that "your interview is on so and so and 11am at blah blah blah."

i haven't gotten one yet. :(

Nope. I sent in part I of the application in late september, but I haven't gotten a confirmation yet. I wonder if it got lost in the mail...

really? I didn't get notified or asked which date i was available to have an interview. I only sent in part one.

wow that's interesting that you only sent in part one.
i live in northern california and the way interviews work here is that there is a big database that alumni can go on and search. In the database they have information such as three major extracirrucular activities of yours, ethnicity, where you live, and other information like that. The alumnus can enter key words and check the database for a match...some alumni just go on the database last minute and take who is left. Not everyone gets an interview for Columbia...I heard (just heard..don't know for sure)about 1/2 of the kids that go to Columbia get an interview. Also, I hear in other areas of the United States and receiving an interview is a random drawing. I asked my alumnus interviewer about the process in NorCal and he explained to me how they do it around here- the database thing. I even got to see what my sheet said. My interviewer arranged my interview with me so it worked for my schedule. so anyone else who lives in norcal..especially the bay area...that's how we get our interviews so pick your top extracirruculars wisely

i had my alumni interview a month ago, shortly after sending in part I.

did you get a confirmation after you sent in part I?

i got immediate email confirmation for opening an account, starting part I, submitting part I, starting part II, submitting part II, etc. was ur email address right?

yeah i think it is...i'm from southern california. it says this:

Submitted Date: 12/2/2004 7:12:00 PM E.S.T.

So i guess that was awhile ago but i don't remember asking for an interview or every scheudling one....weird

and i'm planning to send in part 2 today

want to hear something weird? My interview says he's representing Columbia COLLEGE, not FU engineering, so what should i do? He gave me a bunch of options atleast...but its weird, because they scheduled my interview before i got confirmation that they recieved my app

hmmm..hes a fake..hehe j/k..or m i?

i sent my part I in abuot 10 days ago and got an interview schedule 2 days after. i had it today and it seemed to go really well. it wasnt as hardcore as i thought itd be. she was really nice and chill about everything. = )

wait i live in nyc..for gods sake..and i didnt get one..hmm..:..do they call?..because if they call..then they def didnt get through crap..should i call and ask?

no she emailed me. it was surprisingly quick as well- 2 days after isumbitted part 1. umm maybe u shold call? they arent mandatory. . .they can only help. so maybe if u feel ur not in the best position right then then call and demand an interview. good luck.

i had my interview about a week after sending in my app online.

unfair, I think. how come some people get interviews and others don't. do we suck? jkjk. but answer my question please.

It's been three months since I submitted part one. I should call and ask.

thethoughtprocess: last year my son was applying to the College, and his interviewer was a Fu graduate. I think they consider alumni interchangeable for interviews. It worked out fine; they really hit it off, and he kept in contact afterwards.

i had my interview about 2 weeks after submitting part 1 of my ED app

i got interviewed at Starbucks haha, it was definitely different - it was a great idea though, since it made me feel so relaxed and at ease, allowing me to splurge on any topic that popped into my little head haha
