Did anyone else get this e-mail from the financial aid office?

Dear Student,

Over time the financial aid office has experienced relatively little turn over. Internal promotions and the replacement of departing staff requires that we change both programmatic and student case load assignments.

Although we have made every effort to avoid disrupting the relationships already formed between our staff counselors and their students, some changes have been unavoidable. You currently do not have a counselor assigned to you. We are in the process of hiring a new counselor.

Once we have a counselor hired, we will notify you. In the meantime, please direct future questions and correspondence to the Financial Aid Office. Please be assured that our counselors will work with both departing and continuing staff to insure a smooth and supportive transition.

We look forward to working with you and your family. Thank you for your cooperation.

It seems pretty straightforward, but I'm not sure why they actually...told me about this. Is it not common or something? Will it affect my financial aid estimate?

YUP. Hahaa... I got the same thing.

nope..but then again i didnt get any fin. aid lol

This is not uncommon and it will not affect your financial aid estimate. I assume you are an incoming freshman and have already received your financial aid estimate. If so, your contact person has left for another position at Duke or elsewhere and they are letting you know they are in the process of hiring someone new.

My D, a current student at Duke, received the exact same e-mail a few months ago. It was only today that she received an e-mail with the name of her new Financial Aid counselor.
