Did anyone get a call from UD saying they would be receiving good news soon?

I’m starting to think that the acceptances weren’t received yet and it was a mistake.

Just checked Dudley’s prior posts. I tihnk he is a prankster, and he is yanking everyone’s chain. Just my opinion…He has posted snide remarks on other forums. Just my opinion. I don’t think Del. has sent out any letters yet.

I think socaldad42 is right. Dudley is not being honest. I think we will start to see some acceptances over the weekend:)

Does he have nothing better to do? Totally freaked me out!

This will all be moot soon enough but I contacted Admissions yesterday regarding the calls. They were emphatic that U Del does NOT call with “good news” or to say good news is on the way. The only official notice is the one you get in the mail. They said the school’s multicultural department has recently been inviting multicultural applicants to the Destination Delaware event, an opportunity for students from other cultures to spend a night on the Delaware campus. These invitations are sent over the phone, so this might be the phone calls you’ve been hearing about. Again, no matter what anyone has heard, nothing is official until the Admissions Packets are received in Mid-March.

I was told the exact same thing when I called. I was not given a definitive date when letters would be mailed. They were purposely vague.

The wait continues…

My daughters friend told everyone in school she heard from Delaware- no one believed her- they had it on answering machine and played it for all.they do call. I emailed admissions and they toldme- letters won’t be going out until next week and will continue through the end of March. I guess it depends on who answers the phone in admissions that day!!!

Marshalls- do you think your D’s friend’s phone call is explained by the explanation that UD is giving—that the only people who have received phone calls suchas yours are those who were invited to attend an overnight program Destination Delaware for multicultural student? Is your D’s friend a multicultural student?

Pamom59- I wish I knew- they basically told her she was in over the phone. The poor kid took a lot of stuff that day- no one believed her then the other kids parents started calling admissions and were told there was no call. Thank goodness for the answering machine. At first I thought maybe because her stats are high- she’s a smart kid- but then others with higher stats didn’t get a call.I have no idea. This is a reach school for my daughter, so we just want to hear something!! The waiting is a killer!

I feel everyone’s pain - migraine here all week and breaking out! And…I’m the parent not the kid! Lol. Just wish it would arrive so we know what’s what and my D can make her decision. All others have been in for weeks - ugh! Once it arrives, we see award, then I get to figure out how to pay for it!!! Good luck everyone.

Okay I have the answer to this problem. I was accepted to the University of Delaware. I did receive a phone call on Tuesday. The call said as follows: my name, that I have good news coming in my mail box next week, and that they would like to invite me to the Destination Delaware event April 13th-15th. This means that I was accepted, as my friend called UD the next day, and they said that they called accepted students who applied with an ethnicity. I am half-Hispanic which I put on my application, therefore I was called. They reassured her that the letters are supposed to come next week in the mail. I have pretty good stats on top of the fact of my Hispanic heritage. They would not invite people who have not been accepted to an event well after the decisions are mailed out, and the University of Delaware admissions office confirmed it themselves. If you look on twitter, a lot of people have been getting accepted too. So there should be no worries, if you did not receive a phone call and did not apply with a certain ethnicity they were focusing on (I will assume Hispanic or African-American) then you are still in the running  I also talked to admissions on the chat last week and they said they were hoping to send letters out on the 15th.

 • Here is a link about the destination Delaware event too

Thanks. This sounds right. My D is friends with an Asian girl who also received the call. I guess the admissions office is technically correct in saying that the only “official” notice is the regular mail but at the same time I would certainly accept as quite credible an “unofficial” notice coupled with good news. Also agree they wouldn’t invite students that are not going to receive the “good news”.

dudleydoright is a fraud. D got her letter last year, it is a large, bright yellow envelope with a huge blue ‘congratulations’ on it. There is no large envelope with any doubt.

I know this doesn’t have to do with the thread, but was just wondering what everyone thought about my chances:

GPA: 3.0 UW (rigorous public school- upward trajectory each semester with a 3.8 this semester.) Also mostly honors classes for Junior/Senior year
ACT: 34
EC: Rowing (In contact with coach)
2 APs this year (Stat and Physics)

CSeagles31, I think your stats look pretty good. The ACT is great. The GPA is a little low but it has been on the upswing lately and you have some tough classe so that is good. Which college are you looking to get into at Delaware? Getting into Engineering or Health Sciences College may be more difficult. The GPA may keep you out of the Honors program but you never know. If you wrote a great essay, it will help.

I never said what the envelope was you assumed. As for being a fraud never assumed a fake idenity.

Dudley why are you posting on a thread about delaware if delaware is not what you are posting about?
