Because I have about a 3.5 unweighted gpa, and 3.8 weighted, which is pretty low for someone applying to emory (in my opinion...based on stats on CC). But that's because my high school is known for being hard (in this area it is, I don't know how familiar Emory is with public HS's.) and I've taken the hardest courses.

I studied extra hard for my SAT I and subject tests and got all 4 and 5's on my ap tests to try to offset that weak grade point average.

so how much emphasis does Emory put into SAT and GPA's?

oh, and I don't have many EC's but I've been consistent with the couple activities that i really like. i've stopped lessons and classes for my EC's because of both time constraint and affordability, but i continued them by myself..

i’ll be going to emory next year, and i got in RD with a 3.5 gpa unweighted. i had really good standardized test scores, tho. sounds like you do too! don’t worry about having a low gpa at a competitive school… as long as you have solid test scores, you’ll be fine.

Do you mind telling me how high your sat’s were? You don’t have to tell me exactly but like can you say if its in the 2300- 2400 range? Mine is 2800 and for subject tests 700 780 790. Are they too low?

Im guessing you didn’t mean 2800, but whatever it is, Im sure it’s fine. I hate to be blunt, but you seem OK (actually beyond it) so please don’t stress so much. You aren’t applying to Harvard (are you? maybe you should. It’s a crapshoot for anyone no matter their credentials, but hey…). You can definitely get into Emory with the scores/GPA, and course rigor you have. Just chill some, you’re fine as far as I can tell. I don’t think Emory expects perfection. Also, Emory doesn’t really look at writing on the SAT 1 that much. But if you count it, having even at least a 2000 gives you a fair shot at Emory (especially early decision).
