to everyone that got deferred- i know how it feels. i got deferred from my first choice school, it sucks beyond belief. but good things are coming your way!! promise!

Received my letter yesterday (in Texas). Nothing special, just information about LSA, programs, and a checklist… Very glad to have been accepted.

My S got his email last Friday. It took a couple of days for the acceptance to show up on WA. On Tuesday he got an email inviting him to apply for honors. Today he got the acceptance packet in the mail. My heart goes out to all of you who are still waiting for decisions and documents! Good luck.

Did anyone who was admitted get a letter regarding the Michigan Tradition Scholarship? My S got one yesterday – and heard that two of his friends received one as well. His stats were very good – not AMAZING. He is white and comes from an upper middle class area. The letter said he would contribute to the “diversity” of the freshman class. We were surprised to say the least. The letter looked like a form letter but offered him a substantial amount of money over four years. He had already withdrawn from Michigan because he was admitted Early Decision somewhere else.

Are you in-state? Last year, it appears some OOS accepted applicants were also offered this scholarship ($10,000 x 4 years). It didn’t seem to necessarily be only stats-based but took into consideration EC’s and whether or not a student was from an underrepresented HS. Overall, it seems that this scholarship goes primarily to in-state residents however. I would be curious to hear from others about this as well…

We are OOS. S goes to a very competitive high school and many apply (and are usually accepted to Michigan). However, he is very involved with film and has won many awards. He has great ECs. Maybe that was the criteria?
