4 AP classes, 4 AP tests, 4 subject tests.
All As, all 5s, three 800s and one 760.
Swimming, band, tutoring, volunteering all over the place.
Average 5-6hrs of sleep.
One party every 1-2 months.
Mild phases of depression.
Aaandd…summer before senior year sucks.

I took four ap classes, and a college level calculus course. As well as being on a county mountain biking team. The only time I felt like I was going to crack was the month before AP tests. The rest of the year wasn’t too bad. Just have to pay attention in class, and you’ll understand everything (for the most part).

I found that going to bed with less than 8 hours of sleep made me:
Cranky
Tired
Unable to focus

So I determined that if I slept more, I’d have to study less since I could actually comprehend what the teacher was saying. Try it, sleep is a great thing.

damn i feel like everyones so miserable their junior year that i kinda feel like if we tuned it down, wed enjoy it more
but harvard doesnt like enjoyable people 0.o

I only took 2 AP’s and still felt my year was hard. My first SAT was a disaster and I ended up with a 1770 (Dec). So I studied really hard and in March got a 2030. Then I studied hard for AP exams and got a 5 and 4 so I was happy with that. I then took the SAT II for us history and math I in June. I didn’t study for history at all since i took the ap exam the month before and dedicated all my time to math I. I ended up with a 750 in history and 690 in math…how ironic. All of this in between midterms and finals and just school was a lot for me. I still fit in time for friends and playing call of duty…lol. But for the first year my call of duty playing time was down a lot.

I think the trick for socializing is to integrate it with your ECs. For instance, if you do music or sports, form a band with friends or train with them so you get better. But it’s also productive.

Ugh my junior year was horrible… I just finished my senior year and I am still tired from lack of sleep from my junior year! I have even given myself time to relax now and I am just always always always tired I think I seriously messed something up. So just be careful! It may seem like the end of the world if you don’t stay up late to finish an assignment but your health really is important. Now I’m going into college and worrying about how I will do it with how tired I am junior year was definitely not fun but it paid off. So stay motivated and don’t forget how important sleep is

-2 jobs for a total of 10-15 hours a week (pool and Starbucks)
-4 AP classes (Calc AB, Biology, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics)
-Varsity soccer in the fall
-Premiere club soccer year round (practice 3x a week + games)
-President of HELP Peer Tutoring Club and STEM Club
-ASB
-volunteering at three different places for hours a week
-A plethora of family issues

It was definitely difficult but not as difficult as I had imagined as a rising sophomore. People made it sound like you were practically on the edge of death every day. Yes I was exhausted most of the time. Yes I had to drink espresso practically every day. Yes I had to give up hanging out with friends or watching TV. But my social life didn’t suffer as much as I thought it would. I still went to school dances and talked to my friends at school. What helped a lot was that my parents (asian) motivated and pushed me along the way.

Yes I’m glad the hardest year is over but I know my senior year will be even worse. I’ll be ASB Secretary, varsity soccer captain, two club presidents, and taking 4 AP classes. On top of college applications… yay…

BTW Junior Year results:
-All As and one A-
-3.986 Cumulative GPA
-5s on Calculus and Microeconomics
-4s on Biology and Macroeconomics
-2100 SAT (670 CR, 720 M, 710 W)
-over 600 hours of community service so far
-tons of awards and recognition

Was it crazy hard? Yes. Was it worth the feeling of accomplishment? Totally.

congrats to everyone on completing their junior year
so the general consesus seems to be to go for gold and cash all your chips in junior year?
no matter the cost?

hell no! this was my first year in high school where i actually went out and partied occasionally, and it was also my best year in high school (first time I got straight A’s).

I definitely didn’t sacrifice it all junior year, but I’m happy with the results of it anyway! I took three AP classes, one college Arabic class, and the rest honors classes. I got one B, one A-, and all the rest were A’s. I got fours on all of my AP exams, over 2100 on my SAT, 30 on my ACT, and a PSAT score to most likely qualify me as a Commended Scholar. I participated in 4-5 EC’s, volunteered almost everyday, and held a leadership position at the location I volunteer at. I won a few awards at the place I volunteer as well.

Despite this I still maintained my social life and sleep schedule. Clearly I don’t have Ivy League stats, but I realized I wasn’t going to throw away a year of my life to school just to get into a prestigious college. I know I could have had a better year academically, but I’m glad I was able to better myself personally and socially.

To every rising Junior, good luck! Just remember don’t kill yourself with schoolwork!

Hah. I took the most AP classes in my group of friends and I might’ve spent too much time socializing with them. Kind of. It might explain my B in English AP (and my resulting 4 on the AP test), but I did well in all my other classes, so it’s all good. If anything…they were the ones who kind of ended up being busy.

I think sophomore year was the worst, personally… I was getting by with about 3 hrs of sleep alot of nights because of beloved APUSH. This was mostly bc I attempted to have a social life… :\ I was sick all the time and wasn’t myself from lack of sleep. Haha alot of my friends were in this state too… at least i got a 4!

Junior year, I got myself together and stopped procrastinating (started finishing hw before midnight! yay!) First year with all straight A’s!But hospital volunteering took alot of fun weekends away from me. Got 4’s and 5’s and one 3, so I’m happy I guess. Gotta retake ACT this fall but it’ll be over soon.

Idk if senior year will be any better, but college will all be worth it (maybe? hahaha)

as much as sophomore year took a lot out of me, i actually did become more social than i was in freshman year, which is good. socializing actually helped me out with school work sometimes. we would have study groups and ask each other questions in school and online. this will probably help me with junior year, since it’ll be harder to get good grades while managing other stuff.

as much as i’m thinking that junior year will KILL ME with all the work, i’m actually looking forward to it. i finally get to start the college process somewhat and i’m getting involved in more activities. the work might make me lose a couple hours of sleep, but i’m really looking forward to all the other experiences i’ll have. i’ll try not to kill myself with schoolwork and become a bookworm with no social life (i barely have one now!) but i don’t intend on relaxing too much. i can feel that the competition will get more intense in junior year, and i want to keep my average up and make myself be more prepared for college

guys doesnt it seem like all the idiots in the school suddenly have a passion to compete and suddenly everyone in school is taking 6 ap classes and has 2250+ sat scores?
cause i swear to god thats whats happening to me…
