Srsly. I'm getting like 6 hours of hw every day, and I'm only in three AP classes...
Not to mention I'm taking the SAT in November, and I have both that and PSAT preparation to do.

I was originally looking forward to this year so much, but now I just can't wait for it to end. Anyone in the same position? I needed a place to rant haha.

My school does block scheduling, which is awesome.
We only have four classes but they’re twice as long, so I have one AP class, an honors class, and a regular class. Next semester I have two AP classes, a regular class, and then I get to leave an hour and a half early and go to work.
And “only” doesn’t belong anywhere near “three AP classes.” Most people never take any, and my school only has four.

I’m in the /exact/ same situation as you but I’m a senior and I have college apps on top of it.

Do you have a free period? You should use that time to study for the SAT. But remember that you can always retake it after Christmas break or June when things have winded down.

To my surprise, junior year hasn’t been totally awful so far. I’ve been getting my work done and getting to bed before 1am most nights (an accomplishment for me). I’m sure the workload will increase, though, and I’ll be writhing in excruciating, hw-inflicted pain. But for now, smooth sailing!

I’m also taking the SAT in two weeks, but I feel prepared for it. I hope it goes well.

I’m a Senior, and I sympathize with you. I feel like (at least so far), Junior year is more emotionally straining. At least Senior year, you have “whoo we’re Seniors rah-rah” events to look forward too, fun stuff like Senior Trip/Prank/Skip Day… Also there’s a lot more clarity Senior year. You have your scores lined up, your college list, you know what the essay questions are, you feel like you have some kind of grip on it. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, also, with college being so soon. You feel like you’re actually working toward something.
Junior year… not so much. There are so many unknowns about the college process, school spirit takes a hit, and life seems to revolve around work with no point - with only more and more work coming. Hang in there. It gets better, clearer, more fun.

There’s so much stress to get everything done and settled. SATs, other contests, clubs, setting up internships…just ugh.

and foreign language requirement.
I HATE FL REQUIREMENT. It’s not that I think FL is useless. It’s that I’m taking a DL course that is so.so.so much busywork.

My school doesn’t even carry a 4th year of English -_- so another online class next year.

And I have terrible eating habits and also naturally feel tired half of the time.

Oh well, after I get into college, I am going to really kickback a bit.

I don’t really hate Junior year, it’s just I get a lot of hw for once 4-6 hours a day. @ lldm21, how do you have 21 hrs of marching band a week? Mine is 10-12 hours Monday-Thursday and 4+ hours for the game so 14-16 hours a week. I’m not taking AP, but IB and I do Block scheduling too, but still, we move at a super fast rate and are expected to get everything done with it. But making time for the SAT and PSAT is a bit of a struggle. I have to do that for about half an hour every night around 10ish maybe if I have time.

With 5 APs, 2 of which are AP Biology and AP U.S. History, the GPA killers, on top of studying for the PSAT, I have to agree with the thread title. This was after being in the top 20/576 freshman year and having a 4.0 unweighted GPA. I have an A in AP Biology, for now, but a B, as well as my lowest grade in AP U.S. History.

In retrospect, junior year wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. That said, while you’re in the midst of it it feels like unbearable torture. There were times last year when not a lot would be going on, and other times when every project, assignment, and test were piled onto one day.

Junior year was so irritating, to me, because you feel so trapped in high school. There’s no end in sight. I’d argue that senior year is more stressful, but you at least know graduation is only 9 months away.

Tuesday & Thursday evening rehearsals - 6 hours.
Friday football games - 5 hours.
Saturday competitions in CT towns few people have heard of - 10 hours.

@lldm21 OMG! That really sucks! We do a UIL competition where I am and it’s super important to get a division 1 since its tradition, we are on our 63? Straight 1 or something, but that’s just terrible. Almost as long as band camp. Do they make you practice that all in one day? I will never complain about 2 and a half hours after school again.

YES. This year sucks. I was hoping to continue playing tennis, going to the gym, and studying for the PSAT/SAT on top of my classes. Since school’s started, I only get to play tennis a little bit at school, I froze my gym membership, and I haven’t touched my blue book. I have 4 APs and I’m always doing homework for at least one of them. I try to do all my APUSH and AP Psych notes when they’re assigned, finish my Precalc and AP Physics hw the day I get it, etc. in hopes that I’ll be free from homework over the weekend, but then I get burnt out on Thursday and sleep as soon as I get home… and then I’m overloaded on the weekend again (this weekend, I haven’t done anything but homework). Gah, this is terrible, high school shouldn’t be this miserable. Unlike what seems to be a lot of you guys, I am definitely taking it easier senior year. There’s no way I’m going through this again, and I’m gonna need a relaxing year before college.

Well, I’m in percussion, and our Tuesday rehearsals are from 5:30-8:30 PM because our instructors aren’t there during the school day (woodwinds only have 2:15-3:15 because the band teacher works with them mostly during the school day). Then full band is Thursdays 6:00-9:00 PM. & wow, that’s really cool! My band placed 2nd in the state at the USSBA championships once, so… we try to go hard, lol.

Here’s our schedule for Saturday (9/29):

12:45 p.m.-3:45 p.m. Rehearsal on the Practice Field
3:45–4:15 p.m. Load buses and pit truck
4:15 p.m. Buses Depart School
5:00 p.m. Arrival at RH HS/ Unload Pit Truck
5:15 p.m. Warm-ups
6:30 p.m. Field Show Performance
7:30 p.m. (approx) Awards Ceremony
8:45 p.m. (approx) Depart RH HS
9:30 p.m. (approx) Arrival at School (parents pick you up)

So needless to say, the further the town, the longer the day.

For Friday football games, we practice 3-5, eat for an hour, hit the bleachers from 6 until halftime, play our show, wait until the game is over, and then go home at around 9:30.

Yeah, I really want to get Junior year over with. I have about 4+ hours of homework each night because of AP Chemistry and AP Biology. I cried in AP Chemistry about twice already, and in AP Bio, the reading is just tiring.

I took apush sophomore year and this year I’m in three ap classes as well they are kicking my butt
Psych Lang and government/ micro Econ
It’s so hard I seriously think I’m
Getting more work then my brother in college

For everyone in apush : get the crash course book and read it and memorize it and you will pass the national exam I promise you
