Did anyone say no to Midd?

Why? Better aid package elsewhere? Liked a different school better?

bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmp

bump

Sorry... I'm a tad anxious, as you can see...

My S was accepted to Middlebury and chose not to go.

Where is he going?

I decided not to attend Middlebury.
I visited the school for the welcome day, and decided not to attend.
First of all, I was really impressed by the school especially classes, students and professors.
But for me, the location of the school was a huge issue.
Seriously, it is literally in the middle of NO WHERE.
(Even there isn't any Starbucks around the town.)
and also, I decided to pursue my major earlier rather then studying broad liberal arts education.
I mean, I LOVE MIDDLEBURY.
It is an awesome school, but didn't fit to me.

All of my teachers and friends were like
"you're not going to Middlebury? why??"
but, I am going to USC, because when I visited the school, it felt right to me.
and especially they have a top communication program, and I can also double major in Film, which is the best national wide.

so, i guess at least one person who was waitlisted should have gotten my spot!

My S is a film major and as much as he loved Middlebury decided that film wasn't there (all classes were about genre no production). He decided on another school.
There is Ben and Jerry's ... who needs Starbucks!

Didn't go. It was my first choice school, but I didn't go. Don't really know why.

Wow, kiwi - interesting... Where did you choose to go instead?

My daughter's best friend decided not to go after being admitted. She's going to Clark instead. Closer to her boyfriend (who's going to Worcester Poly), closer to Boton, fantastic aid package, guaranteed star on swim team. She was interested in Midd until she visited in early April. It was gray, the campus seemed too quiet and empty--and Clark made her an offer she couldn't refuse. (We're all from L.A.)

My D chose UWMadison. We visited Middlebury for accepted student days. It was beatiful, but she felt the art facilities were very limited, the atmosphere not quite right, and the travel between here (midwest) and there too arduous. There are a lot of things she did like about it, though, like classes she attended and your very own ski hill!

I chose Macalester over Midd. I feel that Mac's International Studies program is stronger, and they gave me better aid.

Dartmouth, but then I switched to Yale. Middlebury should have beaten Dartmouth, had I not been crazy at the time.

I'm going to Amherst. After a visit, I knew that I just didn't belong. The people there seemed really happy, but the location really got to me. I don't live in a major city or anything, but I would miss not being able to make a midnight Wal-mart run.

goin to wesleyan.

im going to carleton over a feb offer at midd. carleton just seemed better.

Carleton's a nice place. But, still, to be a feb! Oh well.
