Did bad in a summer class, HELP!

Ok I'm a rising senior taking a summer Macroeconomics course at NYU through the NYU Precollege Program. I did good on the first test, got a 93. The second test, I got a 66, but the whole class did horrible so relative to their scores, my score was good/above average. I just took my final test, and I totally bombed it. I had a mental breakdown and couldn't function properly. Failure on that test is eminent. Each test counts as 1/4 of your grade, and participation makes of the final 1/4.

My question is, what should I do about this score? The teacher is ridiculous, almost everyone I spoke to after the exam said it was extremely difficult. I'm scared because my parents dropped close to 5,000 dollars on this and I totally it up. How badly is it going to hurt my chances in the college admissions process?

Just please, help me.

My first reaction was: "Welcome to college"

But seriously, is the teacher going to curve the grades? If so, it will not be as bad as you think.

I hope she will curve it. It's tentative on the scores of the other kids but, from what I hear, it was really hard for everyone.

I feel like such an right now. The part that makes me maddest is that i studied a LOT for this test, exactly what she said to do. I don't understand anything anymore.

Get used to it. That's college for you.

calm down...explain to your parents the situation. phrase it like, "I now realize the demands of even just one class...I am sincerely sorry. I will be better prepared for my 1st semester of college; I won't fail all of them."

It shouldn't affect you in the college admissions cycle providing your grade in the course will not go on your official high school transcript. In fact, you may not even have to report the grade.

well i knw that i also took macroecon at a college this summer but it never touches my gpa or my high school transcripts UNLESS i order it from the college and then request that my high school factor it in. so it may be like that in ur case, hopefully. as long as ur not planning on going to nyu it should be ok cuz colleges might never see the grade.

True, I don't have to report the grade, but I'm still passing the class. I still think I can get my 4 credits for the class at least.

Don't freak--this summer class is isolated from your school grades, and you don't even have to report the grade! I'm betting the curve's more generous than you think, but if your parents are disappointed, make sure to point out the difficulty of the course and how much you learned overall. Surely they can relate, having been through college themselves!

Thanks for the replies.

I just can't stand the guilt trip my mom is putting me through. She's always telling me that I'm so ambitious but I never come out endeavors successfully. I knew she was right, but I hate admitting it. This is definitely the worst example.
