Did bad in high school, but doing good in CC. Will this affect my chances for transfer?

While in high school, I didn’t care about my grades. Come senior year, I didn’t take the necessary steps to apply to any colleges, so I knew I was destined for community college. Since I’ve been at community college, I’ve changed my outlook on education. The difference between my college GPA and high school GPA is night and day.

High School GPA: 2.5 No APs
Community College GPA (so far): 3.75

I am concerned about how this may look while in the admissions process.

I want to apply to some private schools. USC is one of my top choices. I’ll be applying as a Political Science major, junior transfer this coming fall.

Any thoughts?

Also, I understand that public universities don’t usually ask for high school transcripts for junior transfer.

As you said, your high school transcript probably won’t be looked at. I think it’s awesome that you’ve improved so much, and talking about how community college has changed you in an essay would be interesting. I’m sure that’s probably a common essay topic, but you seem very genuine about it and I can tell that it really did.
