Did I get a letter for the wrong special program??

i got an invitation to apply for a special Trinity program in which I actually have no significant background, nor have I expressed any interest in pursuing in college.

?????

there ARE special programs which are a good match for me and my interests and experience (interdisciplinary studies, for example), but this one baffles me.

should i call Trinity and say, um, did you mean to send me THIS invitation or another one?

because while it's nice that the admissions office told these folks i had "excellent academic qualifications" (which feels like a slight likely), i don't see the tie in with this program. because i have no significant involvement with this subject area.

First important question for me would be, by what date does the invitation require a response? If it’s before May 1st, sure sounds like a likely to me. Next, where do you think they might have gotten an idea that the program might be a good fit for you? Did you state your interests in your app that they could have inferred it’d be good for you? Do you mean to say that you definetly wouldn’t be interested in the program? When my daughter interviewed, the interviewer seemed to really push a program on her without knowing all that much about my daughter’s interests.
I don’t know if I’d call because it kinda would have an ungrateful feel to it… to me it all comes down to the required response deadline, if you can wait until after acceptance letters are out then I would. Not to jinx anything you know!!

allgood, in the case that this is a likely letter of sorts, do you mind posting your stats?

i’ve never posted stats before, so i’ll try and remember what most people report:

large, extremely competitive public HS (in Newsweek’s Top 100 HS)
most demanding courseload
11 APs, everything else honors
we don’t rank, but i would not be top 10%…prob am top 15%
2290 SAT one sitting: 800M 790CR 700W
SAT 2s: 730, all the rest 750+
grades: 3.5 UW 4.0W
great interview on campus, loved the school and totally clicked with interviewer
essay: other people tell me it was strong
TRs: how can we ever tell, really? i would think they were strong, but it’s always a mystery
3 solid leadership roles, PT job, and a varied EC list (but consistent involvement; athletics, music, language, volunteer)

does this help?

Is it to an arts program?

Thanks allgood. That helps and congrats! With those stats, I’m pretty positive that is a likely letter.
