Did i get into UPenn?

last night, i got a letter for finacial aid missing documents from penn. I assume they have already made decisions, so does getting a letter like that this late in the game mean I am in?

help?please?

i doubt it..... they are separate departments....but i got a letter from them too.
The financial aid dept. said i was missing some stuff and I tried reasoning whether they would waste their time sending that if i did not get in but now i doubt it really means much.

Isn't financial aid considered after the person's been accepted? They don't require the tax return copies until like May.

I guess it's not a bad sign.

Yeah but there is a possibility that they are just having communication discrepancies between the two dept. right??

yeah, i mean i figured they would have to be done with decisions by now

so if we were rejected, would they really send us this letter?

I dont know. Lets just hope for the best....By the way which school did u apply to within the University?

Something similar happened with NYU to me. However it it dealt more directly with the office of admissions. about two weeks to three weeks ago they told me that they needed my mid year transcripts....I know NYU is not comparable to Penn but shortly after i sent the transcripts i received an invitation to NYU to spend a day with the faculty...This day however is after the notification date. From that i implied that i am accepted.

Decisions are indeed completed. Just a few more days. :)

how do you know that decisions are in?

I just know certain things.

yep i got the same letter. i checked it out and these forms aren't due until april 15. i can't help but think this is a good sign...

yeah i got one too..hopefully it's a good sign!

platnum, you are correct that invitation does indeed mean you are accepted. A friend of mine is the president of her class at stern, and some friends that got those invitations asked her about them. She was involved in filling them out and did confirm that they are pretty much an acceptance. I dunno if you applied to Stern or not, but I believe there are such invitations throughout the diff schools. I think she said they send em to like 2000 kids a year or so...I know of like 5 or so people who got em in my school.

All I know is that Penn is need-blind, so the two departments cannot communicate whatsoever. So I wouldn't read into getting that letter, but hope for the best. Good luck.

great. you guys are making me nervous because I DIDNT get a letter.

I know that the letter may not mean anything, but did the people who receive that letter all apply for financial aid?

yes i did apply for fin aid. and i don't think that because a school is need-blind that means that they do not communicate at all... it just means that they can't use how much money you report to the FA office in their admissions decisions. in fact, i assume that they pass the accepted applications on to the FA office to create their packages... otherwise the office would waste their time making 20,000 extra packages which is just stupid.

and Eckie, while i do think this is a good sign for those who got a letter, i DON'T think that it means you weren't accepted. I have been accepted to two schools and neither of them asked me about financial aid stuff before i was accepted. since people seem to be getting these letters at different times, it might just mean that our applications were read & decided upon first. or you didn't apply for financial aid. or these letters mean nothing. i guess we'll see!!

The only communication I've had with Penn (aside from twice daily phone calls for a period) was one letter sent to me giving me my log in information :(

Perhaps only people who are accepted and are missing financial aid documents are notified? I'm fairly certain that I submitted all the necessary forms, but I'm still freaking out and wishing I could get some sort of communication from Penn!
