I applied to Pitt Swanson School of Engineering on February 8 but received an email (on Feb 17) saying that they weren’t able to offer me admission. However, they did say they will review me for the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences.
I called today (Feb 20) and asked about my application status. The admissions counselor said that my application was already reviewed for Dietrich School and that I will be receiving a letter soon.
I just checked my Pitt Passport underneath the Accept/Decline Admissions. All it says is “You do not have any pending applications at this time.” and nothing about any offer. I haven’t received an email yet saying that I’ve been accepted/rejected.
Would this be a rejection since there’s no way of accepting any possible offer?
@mcc1970 Thank you for your reply! I’m really expecting to get into the Dietrich School after not getting into Engineering, so I hope I hear soon. They said I should be receiving news soon.
With your stats, I can’t imagine how you would get rejected from Dietrich. I would encourage you to call the admissions department again to make sure your application is coded correctly and is still being considered for Dietrich. Be specific. Explain that you were not admitted to Swanson but were still waiting on pending admission to Dietrich and you wanted to check on the status because the information in your Pitt Passport is confusing and again, be specific by telling them what it says and make sure they look at your application status in their system. Hopefully you haven’t been mis-coded and lost in the shuffle.
The accept/decline admission status does not appear in your portal until after you receive the acceptance email. Hope that helps and you hear back soon - best of luck!
