Did I go off topic on my essay? -Photography-

I got the photography prompt for the SAT, which was "Is photography a representation of real life or a depiction of a photographer's point of view."

From what I've heard/gathered from other people, the main idea of the essay was whether photography always depicts truth and reality of the subject inside the picture vs the fact that it is not because photographers can always edit pictures and take it in different ways.

I took the representation of real life side, and my main argument was that when photography brings emotions forth, it's the subject in the picture that garner these emotions, not the way or style that the photographer took it. My examples were the "Migrant Mother" photo from the great depression and how people felt pity mainly through the reality that the photo depicted, not from the photographer's style. My other example were the pictures that we saw from Haiti/Indonesia/Japan after each of their earthquakes. I wrote about how the pictures were meant purely to express the reality of the situation, and not meant to be a tool of the photographer's style.

I thought it was fine at first, but the more I think about it, the more it seems wrong

So just how off topic was I?
And gahhh -_- didn't finish my conclusion either....

Don’t over think it. Off topic means writing about how much you like turtles. If your writing is good and fills up the space, don’t worry

Clam down, You’re so not off-topic. From what you wrote here I’m thinking that are exactly off on-topic. You shouldn’t stress that much, just wait till you get the SAT back and see the comments. Not finishing your conclusion will probbally hurt u more than being off topic because ur still talking about photography and if it depicts reality
