I'm an incoming freshman who did not get a meal plan. Recently, I bought a Premium brand refrigerator from Brandsmart USA that is pretty big. I know in the UF Community Standards book it says that it can be up to 12 cubic feet. It doesn't say whether you can only have one, though, or if each can be up to 12 feet or anything. I'm pretty sure the refrigerator that I got is 12 cubic feet. My roommate is probably also bringing her own refrigerator, although I doubt it's as large as mine. I'm worried that I'll get in trouble for having one this large, but I couldn't have a tiny one because I'm going to be cooking for myself. Have you taken one this large or seen anyone with one of that size? I'm really worried because my parents just paid so much money for it.

You don’t need one that big! You’re just cooking for one person. I don’t have a meal plan either, and my fridge is about 4 cubic feet. Do your parents still have the receipt? If so, tell them to return it and get a smaller one for like $150.

I don’t think you will get in trouble for having a fridge that big if it is within the uf limits, but it will definitely take up a lot of space in your small dorm. Space that you will want to use for other things.

If you are moving into a dorm? Then yes it is big for a dorm.

If you can contact your roommate offer space so you guys can share it.

If not? Return it to brandsmart. They accept returns.

I just think it is too large for a dorm, too large to move from drom to dorm and then to an apartment where you wont need it. Apartments provide full size frigdes.

I’m moving into an on campus residence hall. I found out it’s actually only about 8, 10 cubic feet at the most. I just didn’t want to get one too small because I don’t want to have to go shopping all the time for food.

but that is still really big for 1 person. if you bought enough food to fill it, most would spoil before you could eat it.

mine is a bit less than half that size, and i only have to go shopping every 2-3 weeks.
