Did I Ruin My Chances? My Stats & Aspirations

Hello everyone,

I wanted to get your opinion on my chances into any University of California (UC) or Cal State (CSU). I just finished my junior year (class of 2019). I transferred to a new high school this past semester that offers NO AP or Honors courses.

A little self-background:
UC Unweighted GPA: 3.43
UC Weighted GPA: 3.68
SAT: 1100

  • I failed the first semester of Algebra 2. Yet, I received a 97% during the second semester.
  • I also took four college classes during my Junior Year + 1 during the summer before Senior year. I plan on taking four more during 12th grade.

What do you guys think? I research a lot about the average admission stats of admitted students, and my stats appear incredibly low compared to others.

Where I plan of Applying:
UC Davis
UC Riverside
UC Merced
CSU San Marcos
CSU San Bernardino
CSU Long Beach
CSU Dominguez Hills
Cal Poly Pomona
San Diego State University

Are these colleges a long shot for me?? I’m very much stressing out!

I plan to major in Biology with a Pre-med concentration. In the future, I hope to become a veterinarian, pediatrician or nurse (medical field).

Cal States admit by Eligibility index and major so your EI is (3.68 x800) + (1100)= 4044.

I think that CSU San Marcos, San Bernardino and Dominguez Hills look like Match schools.

Cal Poly Pomona, SDSU and CSULB will be tough due to Biology being impacted and the stiff competition.

For the UC’s, having a UC GPA below 4.0 will be tough. UCM is probably your best option followed by Riverside. I see UC Davis as a Reach school.

2017
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79 (capped weighted) and not major specific so Biology will be more competitive.

UCB: 1.8%
UCLA: 2.2%
UCSD: 7.2/;%
UCSB: 10.1%
UCI: 11.1%
UCD: 16.6%
UCSC: 43.8%
UCR: 63.3%
UCM: 88.7%

25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:

UCB: 1280-1490

UCLA: 1280-1500
UCSD: 1250-1470
UCSB: 1210- 1450
UCD: 1190-1430
UCI: 1190-1420
UCSC: 1170-1380
UCR: 1090-1310
UCM: 1020-1230
