What are my chances at these schools?

The three schools I am the most interested in at the moment are:
Cal State Fullerton
Cal State Long Beach
UC Irvine

My SAT score is 1500. 750 in each section. I took it twice but I am still waiting on the second test’s score, so it’s possible I might improve. I can retake it another time if it will help my chances at all.
My GPA, weighted and capped: 3.04 according to Rogerhub, 3.087 according to the UC/CSU GPA section on my transcript. Not sure why they’re different.
I haven’t taken the ACT yet, but I am signed up for the December test date.
This puts my CSU eligibility index at 3932.

I’m a California resident and I want to major in biology. I also have a few extracurriculars related to biology: This year I was accepted in a program at the Cabrillo Aquarium where I get to run independent research on anything related to marine conservation, I’ve been volunteering at that same aquarium for 5 years, and I volunteer at an ecological reserve doing restoration, leading tours, education, etc.

Thanks

Do you have a compelling reason for your low grades? You have a very competitive SAT which indicates you are a capable applicant but your GPA will have a huge impact.

For the UC’s which tend to be GPA focused, here are some admit rates based on UC GPA capped weighted

Freshman admit 2017
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.00-3.39

UCB: 1.1%
UCLA: 0.9%
UCSD: 0.9%
UCSB: 1.4%
UCI: 3.1%
UCD: 4.1%
UCSC: 14.3%
UCR: 22.9%
UCM: 56.7%

CSU Fullerton is possible. CSULB probably 50/50. UCI a Reach school.
Look at some other Cal states such as Chico, Sac State, SJSU, SFSU, CSU San Marcos, Cal Poly Pomona.

Best of luck.

Thank you!

i agree, you’d be well served by casting a wider net. the CSUs listed above are all worth a look.

good luck
