I just submitted my application/supplement for EA. I know it's a little bit in crunch time, but I'd been going back and forth over whether or not I wanted to apply to UMich (it's pretty far from home for me which was a problem for a while) before deciding I should go for it. I ordered my SAT scores (both June and October) to be sent on Wednesday, and I received confirmation that they were sent on Friday. I know there are still three days left for the scores to be received, but I'm doubtful that they'll actually get there in time. However, I'm not sure whether Michigan wants my SATs to be SENT by the 1/11 deadline, or received. Does anyone know whether they actually want to have the scores in their files on November 1st, or if they're lenient on when the scores arrive? Like I said, they've been sent, just not received - will it negatively affect my application if they don't come in on time?
Thanks!
PS, sorry if this post is in the wrong section or something - this is my first thread.

Did you send them electronically or by mail? You didn’t rush them, did you?

From the U-M Early Action website:

Sending Test Scores

Please be advised that we must receive your official ACT or SAT scores by the deadline date in order to complete your application file. We encourage students to send test scores to U-M immediately after taking the exam; students who submit their requests for test results after they have taken an ACT or SAT will need to ensure that scores be sent to us by the deadline. Check with ACT or SAT regarding individual policies.

To Apply

Applying for early action typically involves the same steps and materials as regular admissions. A complete application includes the following forms and information and must be postmarked by November 1:

The Common Application
The U-M Supplement
High School Transcript
School Report
Teacher Evaluation
SAT or ACT with writing test scores (must be sent directly from the testing agencyrush paper scores not accepted)
Home School Supplement (if applicable)
International Supplement (if applicable)

I sent them electronically (through the college board website). I didn’t rush them, I sent them regular delivery.

idk but I requested my scores to be sent on Wednesday and College Board still hasn’t sent them so I’m going to miss the EA deadline. sucks that I sent in everything else already

If they postmark regular scores by Tuesday, it’s fine.

You could always call College Board on Monday to find out. Proceed like it has all been done and postmarked or in. The worst that can happen is that you’re app is put in the regular action pile.

Sunday night, we ordered my son’s SAT scores to be sent rush by the College Board. I just checked and they confirmed for me that they were sent electronically today.

As long as collegeboard sends the score(s) before November 1, you should be ok.

So if CB doesn’t send them today, we won’t make the deadline?
(You can’t “postmark” an electronic report, right? So they wouldn’t know that we submitted them before?)

Electronically is most likely sent instantly. There is probably a date stamp when the scores come directly to the college admissions office.

It’s the paper scores that I would worry about. If not sent today, then you have a problem. I have heard that if you call College Board on phone to order, it’s relatively instant.

However, it’s pretty specific that Mich doesn’t want RUSH paper scores. It says so on their website.

I’m asking because I paid for them to be sent on the 29th - and collegeboard still says that the order “is pending”. So will UMich know that I sent them earlier (with the date stamp idea you mentioned) or am I screwed, since CB didn’t send them today?

“Rush PAPER Scores” what does this mean? Are there rush electronic scores? Was there even an option to choose paper or electronic? I recall it being automatically electronic

If you order ‘rushed’ scores, I believe they are always on paper. Otherwise, they are mostly sent electronically. (If the school prefers on paper though, CB will know that and they will send them by paper.) At least, I think that’s how it works.

I made a big mistake, I thought I sent in my scores but I didn’t, I actually just said that I want my Nov SAT II scores to be sent by then, I didn’t send in my SAT I scores. So I just sent it now, I am guessing that I just got into the regular pool. I know the website clearly says they need everything by Nov 1, no leeway ya?

A lot of colleges on the East Coast giving grace period because of electrical problems with the storm. You may luck out yet…
